My teenage girl speaks dialect from young, though not as fluent as us.

When did she start learning? I'm just scared it's too late to start!

It is never too late to start. Just start talking to your child now.

My kids understand Cantonese...speak a little.

They learnt from young...I spoke to hubby in Cantonese when we do not want kids/maid to know...then they also picked it up :slapshead:

haha... with kids knowing dialect, now you may have to learn another language to talk to your hubby if you do not want your kids to know.

Good point, a strong motivation to pick up another language šŸ˜›

Kids are mischievous...the more you don't want them to know, they work harder to understand. But when you want them to work hard, they don't.

Can you imagine my girl is "learning" cantonese because she finds the HK tv drama so exciting? This is her motivation.
