Oh year, my boy got 255 in year 2008 but I was told IB cop is 260, so we let go....

so did your boy get into ACS(I) Express ? If the kid is in ACS(I) Express, any chance of moving over to IB during the 4 years ? Any affiliation points when choosing ACJC ?
I spoke with ACSI before and they said that about 30% of the express stream will be tranaferred to IB at year 3, based on their year 2 result.

Then for those remains behind, they will take the ‘O’ level at end of year 4 ? How about any bonus points if apply to ACJC after ‘O’ level ? Is there any bonus points for applying to affiliated JCs after ‘O’ level ?

2ppaamm:
There are normally 3 intakes:

1. DSA - for talents in special areas
2. S1 posting - based solely on PSLE T-score
3. Supplementary intake - for talent and/or academic, mostly discretion of principals.

Hope this helps. 2 of my kids went through (1), one went through (2), and perhaps another one through (3), we'll know soon.
Is process 3 the appealing stage ie after rejected from central posting? have also heard of such things at another top IP school, on the basis of past leadership or school CCA rep in centain sports.etc.

Well, at least there's an O Level programme. In other IP schools without an O-Level stream, the students that did not meet the promotion criteria may need to be transferred out of the school.

Or retained. It happens.

I'm surprised that NYGH's COP has remained the same. Colour me very surprised. Not a bad thing though.

With all due respect, I would like to scrap affiliation. Or at least up the minimum score to 255. It's totally unfair to students who are not from NYPS and according to statistics (Mean 260, Median 259), most students are there simply because they cannot make it to a school of similar standing (Eg RGS) with their scores. I don't see the point in lowering the entry score by a good 13 points. If you must, keep it within 10 points.

There, rant over. Sorry guys!

NYGH definitely at 263 based on central posting exercise. My girl’s schoolmate scored 262 (she does not have HMT), put NYGH as first choice but was posted to RGS instead which is her second choice. Don’t think Hu Jin Tao’s visit make a huge impact as suggested by James Ang. I think many parents read up the "reviews of both schools in this forum" and may have been swayed towards NYGH.
