Dim Sum

Wah Lok is also one of my fav for dim sumRed Star still around!?!
The last time I went there was when I was still a kid!! That must have been AT LEAST 30 years ago!
Now our favourite dim sum place is εδΉ at Carlton Hotel. Not only is their dim sum good, their Cantonese food is top notch as well. An uncle whose home is in Hong Kong, loves going there for lunch/dinner when he's in Singapore. Sometimes if he didn't feel like having any of the items offered in the standard menu, he would order something he had in HK before, and the chef has no problem whipping it up.
. Red Star is still around, last I know. I went there about 1 year ago, I think.

Hey, same here. I like East Ocean, Chinos & Wah Lok. -
mummy of 2:
Yes Wah Lok is good, Red Star is nostalgic. I am afraid it may be sealed off as one of those Heritage places for tourism in future.

I have heard East Ocean is good, but have not tried. Makes me crave dim sum again

This is a good one. I like it!!!A man asked God
\"God, what is a million years to you?\"
God replied
\"Son, it's like a second to me.\"
The man continued
\"Wow. So, what's a million bucks to you?\"
The reply
\"Oh... that's less than a penny to me\"
So the man asked excitedly
\"Cool... um... can u give me a penny? \"
\"Sure, my son. In a second\"

I second that :celebrate:

After http://www.getforme.com/previous2006/311206_theneptunerestaurantclosesafter34yearsinbusiness.htm closed down, i can't find anywhere with the same good food and atmosphere anymore.
Talking about old fashioned, there's this place called Grand Shanghai at the Copthorne Hotel (used to be affiliated to Ye Shanghai ε€δΈζ΅· in HK) . They have that type of Shanghai style songstress singing on a stage - believe this only happens on Friday nights? The food is Shanghai style too, so it's not cantonese dim sum. Food quality is quite good (although not fabulous), but the atmosphere is really something!

My family enjoys going to Red Star - it's quite nostalgic lah. But then we are one of those who will walk up to the kitchen to order type, and to the various serving ladies to get what we want. else by the time reach us, nothing left.
I like Victor's - it's near Burlington Square (can't remember the service apartment name it's situated under) - but it's practically opposite NAFA campus. Run by a HK chef, it's looks like a kopitiam, but the carrot cake - wah.....so sedap. Comes in a little bowl and with accompanying xo sauce. And the 'zha leung' - always the you tiao is hot and crispy, and the cheong fun nice and hot. And the HK tea - the ice is OUTSIDE the bowl so your cold tea is always thick and nice.

Ahh⦠as you can see from my nickname, i LURVE dimsum!! for good, exquisite dim sum, my favourites are wah lok, lei garden and crystal jade palace. Red Star - i write it off already. Yes, the nostalgic atmosphere is interesting but the std of dim sum is bad.
