The "busy season" in my office has started. Haizโฆ So dreading it. The worst was last year when I was practically working every weekends, public holidays, week nights for three straight months. Gosh, I really felt that I had neglected my son.
This year, I hope things will be different although the way I see it, things seem to be getting worseโฆ -

I see.. can ur dh help during times tat u can't pick ds up? Or do u stay near any relatives tat might be able to help?
Yup, late in picking them up. I would have such problem a few times in a year (which is not very bad, but when I am late, I am very late).MintyMin:
Imami,
Problems as in late in picking them up? So far i do not have such issues.. N the student care principal did say that they will stay till kids being picked up.. but of coz we shld not make it into a habit..
As for source of bad influence.. i guess it is inevitable.. as long as they go to sch.. there is no way you can stop them.. n we shld aws trust tat our kids remember wat we taught them at hm.. constant reminders and explanations are needed no matter if they are in student care or not.. IMO..

I had my share of being late in picking my kids up. Although we tried not to, itโs really difficult at times.
Thus, I made arrangements for the student care teacher to send them to "koufu". With extra cash, my kids will buy some snack/dinner while we rushed to pick them up. -
Imami:
Where is the student care located near the school or your home?

Hi ftwmumftwmum:
Hi all,
As you can guess from my nick I am a FTWM with no maid. DS starting P1 next year, hope to get him into student care as we cant afford a maid.
My mum is currently looking after DS after school.
Would love to hear more from the FTW mummies here who use BASC.
Thank u
For BASC, I would agree it is tougher to receive feedback on. I did the scouting on my own as I was deciding between 3 BASC. I actually went during 3 different timing and days to spot check how is discipline handled within BASC. How the kids interact. Had the BASC show me around, see the food menu , their focus. Example, DDs BASC has 1 day in a month where they observe being vegetarians. their school holiday activities include visitings to old folks home, understanding various occupations and caring about pets.
The centre has to give you a good feel and mine includes revising spelling and making sure school homework is done in BASC.
Took me 3 months before I was firmly decided.
Hope this will help you
Thank u Kissgurami
Dunno if I can just arrive unannounced to the BASC within DS's future school.....The other is a tuition centre so cant just walk in as and when?
The one at the tuition centre sounds good but fee is $320pm -

my husband? If he is in sg lor. But that's the point - he is hardly in sg!
My fil is working and mil is not in good health. Won't want to bother them. Besides son's cc is not near their home. -
Kissgurami:
Neither. My son is only 5yo. It's five min drive from our place. If I leave office on time, I can reach his cc within 30min. If I leave later, then I would be caught in a jam.

There was once I was stalled in office until 7pm and cc closed at 7pm. The traffic was horrible and I had to chiong the bus lane. Haiz... End up reach there at 7.50pm (50min late)....
The teachers were informed that I would b very late when I was on my way. They were cool when I finally reached but I felt very bad about it. Bought them two gifts the next day to show my appreciation. -

Safety check, if the BASC doesnt even bother who comes in and out, it is a concern.
Dds BASC monthly is 350. it is a higher cost compared to the other BASC but I like the environment and DDs are happy there too. -
Imami:
I see, this happened when DDs were also near my home. I was alone so like you, there wasnt extra help. I used to be late twice a week and paying the fine or the CC teacher will bring DDs home as she just stays in the same block and provide meals . That too came with a cost. So in the end, I transferred DDs out to the CC right opposite my work place so even if I finish at 6.55, i can still run over to grab them.

at that time, home at punggol and work at jurong. so every morning I just drive them over and head to work. when work is done, i just grab them home.
The CC opposite my work costs much more but when I had to pay $20 fine each time. I rather put the extra cash in having a better CC.
That really helped alot
