Depends on your intention. If it's for some time-off together, why not consider the typical holiday islands, eg. Bali, Mauritius, or maybe even Tioman?Hii all finally thinking of going with DH somewhere in last week Nov,, planning either Europe, or Japan, whats a good place ?
I am not a fan of Japanese food. Any other destinations to recommend ..hee no ebola danger. -
Greece? Athens for a few nights, then go off to the Greek islands such as Santorini. Pretty and romantic too! Plus, interesting food
Was there a couple of years back sans kids and loved it

Wow! Sounds really nice.
Did you have problems with the language? Or will English suffice? -
English was good enough Chiefkiasu
The Greeks are very friendly people. Even when they don't understand you, the point-smile-smile-some-more usually works!
Plus - apart from airfare - it's a relatively economical place to visit... food and accommodation is cheaper than most of Europe in Athens itself. -
Found this site (http://www.greecetravel.com/greek-islands.htm) useful when I planned my trip (more than 10 years ago). During that trip, we covered some islands (island hopping from Athens to Rhodes except Crete) and then did inland (covering places like Olympus etc).
During that trip, we were very garang to go to a travel agency (just popped into one stray one) in Athens and booked all our ferry tickets (google sites for ferry timings if desired). NOT recommended cos apart from ships leaving the Athens port, all the other destinations may be delayed. Once our ship to Mykonos (can't recall which island we at) was delayed for 3 hours...there was a real fear that it may be cancelled...thus derailing all our other plans).
We were in a group of 4. And mostly, we found the next place to stay at the port - hustlers were waiting and we just went wif whoever we liked. You may not want to use this mode but it was convenient and nothing untoward happened. -
Yes we sorta did the same - for the island we just showed up, checked schedule, bought tickets on the spot and left. That’s part of the fun of travelling without the kids - we can just #YOLO it! With the kids involved… the planning involved goes two levels up!
