      next year 2016 (10 years later, from 2006) :-

\"A\" level syllabus going to change.
one of the changes involve : bringing back F Maths to A level.

This year batch of 2015 JC1 students admitted -
is the last batch, remain unaffected. (escape)

      next year 2016 JC1 students :
will be impacted, by the new A level syllabus content change(s), coming up.

Is there an official announcement about this? Why should having F.Maths as an additional subject be so fearful? Some students will welcome it, I'm sure. But if a student takes 2 Maths and needs a contrasting subject, that means they can only take 1 science? Or will they be allowed not to have a contrasting subject?

This is for the UK A levels. It's not applicable to Singapore.

Hello! I have a net l1r5 of 8 after deducting 2points (cca). (Not as good as the others in the thread but…)I am deciding between nyjc and catholic . I want to put nyjc as my first choice but I’m 1 mark higher than the cop for science (7) and just at the cut off point for the arts course (8)

for o level, I took combined science (phy, chem) , though I manage to score an a1, I believe it will be difficult to have 2 h2 science subjects.
These are the subjects I took in o lvl:
        Eng(b3)
        combined humanities(a2)
        Combined science (phy,chem) (a1)
        Maths (a1)
        Amaths (a2)
        Chinese (a1)
        Pure geography (a2)

I want to do a hybrid subject combi in Jc and I heard that nyjc is very flexible with hybrid subjects combi: one h2 science , h2 maths , h2 geo/economics and h1: still not sure yet…
So when I’m doing the jae exercise, do I put both art and science for nyjc as my first two choice and then catholic Jc?

Although she did not go into specific detail nitty gritty, I do not think is for the UK A level.
            (I may be wrong)

Because if is meant for UK A level -
Why did this Deputy Principal (in charge of overall A level Academic school matter) announce to all JAE parents & students seated inside the auditorium listening intently that 2015 JC1 students will be the last batch of A level students, that remain unaffected ? :?
Deputy Principal said that : for example -
One of the new changes involved will be : to bring F Maths back into the A level curriculum.
She further mentioned that we used to have F Maths, in the past.

Anyway, let us wait for Moe to announce, in due course.
It is best to hear from Moe, directly, the source of accurate information.

Current H2 math is already overlapping some of the content of F math of many moons ago.

pardon my ignorance ... can Current A level students take F Maths, as a separate H2 or H1 subject, by itself ?

Exactly. It would mean that students would only be able to take one Science, given the contrasting subject requirement.

The UK announced that the introduction of F Math in the A levels in England and Wales would take place in Sep 2015. Maybe there's some miscommunication or misinterpretation of information regarding changes in the sg A levels.

There is no F Math in the A level curriculum now. Hasn't been for years. Students who qualify can take H3 Math.

Any merits of taking Knowledge and Inquiry, say vs GP? Besides it being H2 vs H1, thus more demanding?

How is it different from Theory of Knowledge offered in IB?
                        Thanks.
