For us,


nephews (my side) - $20
nephews (DH’s side) - $100 (because he wants to give more even though we always get $50 in return)
kids of cousins/close friends/colleagues - $10
other kids from DS or DD’s classes - $8 to $10
kids we don’t know (ie strangers) - $6 (altough sometimes we also take into consideration how many kids there are)

Haven’t given any angbaos at $4 for years… but received a number this year. Maybe "market" is really bad.

Talking about some of the "bad nuts" at wedding, in our case, I suspected there was someone (a friend from school somemore) who did not even give angbao to us. When it came to this person’s turn to get married, I simply chose not to go. Simple!
