My friend has this problem. Her DD was unsuccessful from Sch A but received a CO from Sch B. Her choice school is really Sch A. Now her dilemma is whether to reject CO from Sch B and try her best in PSLE to enter her dream Sch A (but risky because you won't know the results until Nov), or to accept CO from Sch B but with possible regret if PSLE results good enough to enter Sch A? Any parents with past experiences (successful and unsuccessful ones) to share?

Thanks for the kind parents who shared inspiring stories! I wonder if there are cases where DC gave up CO, but PSLE results couldn't make it to either schools? Want to have as realistic a picture as possible.

Friend's son gave up CO cos he was very sure he only wanted his dream school. Psle score did worse than prelims and ended up in a school that he didn't even hear of before. He was very disappointed and even kept asking his father to try to see if he can switch school. Partly due to the fact that he had no friends and the culture of the school was very different.
However, now 3 years down the road, he's adapted well, thriving academically and is a student leader actively involved in CCA. Guess what I'm trying to say is that children are resilient even with setbacks, we just have to be there to listen to them, and support them the best way we can.
He didn't get into what he deemed to be his dream school, but he's doing well and most importantly, he's happy and thriving now.

We attended a session at HCI too, for DSA students, they do not need to meet the COP. Those who are on waitlist now, to convert to CO, they must meet cut-off for express stream (200) and of course subjected to the vacancy available for WL. For all WL students now, their names have been submitted to MOE. Their system will generate who to be converted to CO if we submit the option form which will given to our DC on 30 Oct by their primary school. So on the actual day of results release, we will know if our DC is offered a place or rejected. If is rejection, then our child will have to follow the S1 posting.

HCI Co letter clearly says, \" HOWEVER YOU MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND A COURSE OFFERED IN OUR SCHOOL BASED ON YOU PSLE RESULT * \"
below the letter the * says * = express Stream. Meaning you need to get PSLE cutoff required for Express stream to exercise this CO at HCI.

I agree that if her priority in choosing RGS is for her sport, then she may not get into 1st team, as the DSA girls would most likely fill those places. Thus if her main priority outside studies is to play that sport representing the school, then the CO will be the better choice. RGS may be better than the other school for the sport, but if she doesn't get to play for the school, it may not be an ideal outcome for her. Depends on her expectation.

Correct, no matter co or wl, the requirements are the same, for all DSA schools.

You might want to check this again with the school. According to the CO letter I've received, the place is only confirmed if my child ranks it as first choice in the option form.

Thats exactly what is written in my son's NUSH WL letter too.... it clearly says ,place is Only confirmed if you put NUSH as your 1st choice .[/quote]Did anyone clarify, with NUS High staff ?

1) RI WL

2) NUS High WL

In the event didn't get into RI (if suppose RI WL fail to convert), then NUS High WL also gone case ?

Hi mommyng, my DS also has the same problem as ur DD. This is the 1st time i post in ksp as i m really lost now. I didnt let my DS go DSA for his 1st choice of sch - RI coz i have read too many past years ksp stated that dsa successfully through academic is slim. So I tot to let him to try sch B to gauge his chances to dsa successfully among the cohort, who knows DS got CO. DS told me he wanna take the CO as dont wanna risk with tscore which may unable to enter RI. After i follow this thread, i am so regretful that didnt let him for a trial. :sad: can anybody tell me how reliable we can gauge DC's tscore with his prelim result? I feel dilemma as DS didnt get A* (except MTL) which he used to. :?: :faint:

I didnt let my DS go DSA for his 1st choice of sch - RI coz i have read too many past years ksp stated that dsa successfully through academic is slim. Thank you for sharing this. Initially, my heart broke coz his results can't get him to his dream sch & more so coz he was lost in a sch with no frds & strange culture. It's every parents' concerns. But yes, thankfully he rebounded.
