Similar to RSP/MSP combo, there is now RSP/Bahasa combo offered

Hi mengsan,

According to my dd1, RSP is not a \"study\" program. It is a fun program, they get to try Malay/regional food, cultural camps, field study (peninsular plaza), etc.

According to my dd1, RSP is not a \"study\" program. It is a fun program, they get to try Malay/regional food, cultural camps, field study (peninsular plaza).

It's a non-examinable subject, and students mostly find it educational & fun, as they learn more about regional cultures, food etc, which includes an annual overseas trip to neighbouring countries.

I guess acquiring competency in any new language is worthwhile:) Also, can be an option to consider tertiary education in that particular foreign country too.

From an academic viewpoint:

- For IP students: the 3rd language grade can be used in the computation of the overall grade in lieu of a Humanities subject.

- For Olevels students: (1) A pupil who passes 3rd lang of MSP, CSP, Bahasa Indonesia & Arabic at the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination and who qualifies for admission to a JC/Millennia Institute (MI) will be given a concession of two points in his application to the JC/MI of his choice.

(2) A pupil who offers 3rd lang of MSP, CSP, Bahasa Indonesia & Arabic in the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination will be allowed to use the grade in lieu of a Humanities subject grade for admission to the JC/MI.

In my opinion, it may be easier to study Lit/History/Geography, or just choose one or two. As for 3rd language, unless the child has a keen interest or there’s someone at home who can practise with him, else it is difficult to stay motivated after a while. It is not fun traveling up & down (for few years).

When I made enquiry to MOE with regards to RSP, the students have to take O level exam for this subject too. And how they assess the students to get them stay in this program? , as it is a 4 yr to 6 yr program scholarships. Hence, I don't think it is a fun program leh. Like no need to study or exam or do any research paper, so easy to get scholarship every year from MOE meh? :?

Tend to agree that RSP is exam subject, which means eventually if hv to take 2 subjects RSP + MSP together
