      Hi sall, I don't know how many periods of Chinese they have. I need to ask her when she comes back. She's busy at Open House now. 🙂

          Does your child always get penalised 2 marks for the 错字 in the chinese composition? What is the reasonable mark for the compo in the 应用文 section?

            Also unlike in PSLE where 4 subjects are equally important, one may not need to use the chinese grade in the ‘O’ or ‘A’ level anymore. So does it mean that you are no longer concerned over your child’s chinese grade? What is the grade that you hoped your child can achieve in the ‘O’ or ‘A’ level? And it is easy to score A2 in ‘O’ level HCL paper?

              I know some RGS GEP students start to read 金庸作品集 after PLSE results and now deeply immersed in these serials. She got money paid to read every day for first book. Then now she immersed in it and ask her mother to buy the whole sets for her. Start improve your kids Chinese level early now. Don't wait their Chinese no good and want to improve it in a rush. Drag them away from computer game and read more books is really benefit for them.

              You can refer http://gepkidshappyjourney.blogspot.com/p/36.html. You can get more resource for kids Chinese compo from home page.

                For every wrong word, half a mark is deducted. As for four and more words, a maximum of two marks can be deducted.

                The reasonable mark for the email-writing would be 14 to 16.

                  My son is Sec 3 in Hwa Chong Institution.

                  He has signed up to take Chinese O level paper in Nov this year (end of Sec 3).

                  Does anyone know;

                  1) if this is compulsory ? (since it is IP school and they don’t take O levels);

                  2) the advantages/disadvantages of taking the Chinese O level at end of Sec 3?

                  3) whether he has to take the same paper again at end of Sec 4 or take the HCL O level paper at end of Sec 4?

                  Thanks in advance!

                    O-level MT is compulsory in any school. I suppose he'd be taking HCL in sec 4.
