Sorry that I'm new to Sec school curriculum.

For chinese, what's the difference \"Higher Chinese\", \"Chinese 'B'\" and \"Chinese Special program\"? For Primary school, there is only Normal Chinese and Higher Chinese.

please advise.

TIA!

Hi there!
Higher Chinese is chinese but of a higher standard. Chinese B should be foundation chinese and Chinese Special Program(csp) is what the malay/tamil students take as their third language. Hope this helps 🙂

Hi hi,

Higher Chinese : higher standard than Chinese. Students who offer HCL at O
level, gets 2 bonus points for application for JC course.

Chinese (NA OR EXP) :The normal CL taken by most students.

CLB : Offer to EXP/NA students who struggle to pass the normal CL. this
subject is created for those who need to pass CL for JC admission.
However only passed or merit grade be given, cannot count into L1R4
or L1R5.

Basic CL / BCL : Offer to NT students only. Emphasis is on listening and
spoken. No essay or email writing.

Chinese Special Programme / CSP: 3rd language, taken by non-chinese
students.

Hi,

Any good Chinese enrichment to recommended for hCL pls? Especially for holidays, DD so bored but I don't know where to send her.
TIA

Layla,

You have a good question, pm me if you have found one suitable. also quite curious to know how to score well in \"O\" level so that DC can skip this subject when she reach \"A\" Level.

Hi hi,

Read Chinese newspapers and storybooks. Watch CH8 news. Use the language more often.

While i was seaching for some info for secondary school chinese, I came upon this thread.
For the 综合填空 found in page 1 posted by 1 of of the forummer,
I would say this is somewhat the standard of my gal's Sec 1 HCL in DHS,
In fact, even come across some of my gal’s test papers tougher than this. (from the choices of words given, some din even see/or read before )

So for pupils who intends to take HCL in sec schools, advise to brush up your chinese proficency during this school holidays,
One really need to read widely, listens broadly from whatever available resources and practice extensively (hehe….easy said than done)

just to add, for Q5, I would also choose 风雨同舟, seems more appropriate here, as the word followed is 伴侣
as for the word 志同道合 is used for friends/peers, not so approciate to use this word to describe 伴侣. (any chinese pro/teachers to enlighten us on this??)

Are these choices in red correctly? Thanks
i think the rest all correct expect for Q4and 5
Q4 can be 渗透 also
Q5 could be 志同道合 since we are taking about 理解
Hi,

I happened to have this book and the suggested answers are

Q4 3
Q5 1
Q6 4
Q7 4
Q8 1
Q9 2
Q10 3
Wow....that's was yrs ago posting.....
Anyway, thanks for yr answers posted....

风雨同舟, others are not supposed to be used to describe couples.

志同道合-describe a person who like-minded as another.
风雨同舟-two people going through thick and thin
一帆风顺-successful with no obstacles

I’m just a P6 student but still it can be used for reference, I suppose?

Hi Parents

My DD is in Sec 1 this year and would appreciate a recommendation of a good tuition centre/ tutor for HCL. We stay in Sengkang. I am aware of Han and Tienhsia offering tuition for Chinese but which is better? Are there any other better ones? Thanks in advance.
