Hotel booking sites were misleading users. They've agreed to change

Searching for a hotel room online might soon get a little more transparent, at least for UK consumers.
Major travel websites including Trivago (TRVG), Expedia (EXPE), Agoda and Booking.com have agreed to change the way they do business after a UK investigation found some of them were deceiving users about hotel room prices and search results.

The UK Competition and Markets Authority on Wednesday announced the results of its probe, which focused on issues such as pressure selling, misleading discount claims and hidden charges.

The regulator said that some buyers were warned that other users were looking at the same hotel, giving them a \"false impression\" of a room's popularity. In other cases, the full cost of the room was not displayed.

While not all of the platforms engaged in each of the unfair practices, they have now agreed to follow a common set of guidelines.

The companies have pledged to display all charges including taxes and refrain from pressure selling. They will be clearer about discounts and only promote deals that are really available at that time.

I was surfing for some hotels

Capella Sentosa charged 1k per night !?!

I would prefer staying at home

I would too. If the staycation is so expensive, I would just save the money for an overseas holiday.

Book flights on Sunday, hotels on Friday to save money: Report

Flights and accommodation in the Asia-Pacific may cost less if booked on certain days, according to a 2019 pricing outlook report by travel companies Expedia Group and Airline Reporting Corporation (ARC).

The report derived average air ticket prices for flight-booking days and departure days from data on over 295 million passenger trips from October 2017 to September 2018. Accommodation data was taken from 19 booking sites with over 895,000 properties worldwide.

The data was based on standard average prices, excluding prices after discounts or promotions.

Yes. I agree…the amount for staycation is almost same as short trip. But the good point is safe in Singapore…

The Changi Village Hotel offers a pretty good deal too. In the day time, you can take a boat ride over to Pualu Ubin.

The Vagabond Club is emboldened to conflate calculated brashness with a deep whiff of grandiosity. Outlandish set pieces such as Franck Le Ray's golden baboon holding the fort alongside house spirits at Bar Vagabond, six giant bronze Banyan trees dusting ceilings with gold crusted leaves leaves and one rhinoceros sculpture which doubles as reception desk happen against sultry red weaving in and around - pulpy Parisian luxury reigns courtesy of esteemed French interior designer Jacques Garcia's vision. And then there is owner Satinder Garcha's intimately cultivated whisky library, the not so small cherry on top pulsating to the tune of over a thousand curated bottles for sale.
