      Lavina:

So should we send our child to schools which had/have more special needs children (but less resources per child) or less special needs children (but less experience teachers)?
      :?
I will do woth more special needs but less resource. Then I will try to feed back to say there is not enough resources then MOE will add AEDs.

There are some schools with more than 1 AED LBS.

If you put your kid into a school with less experience AED LBS, then he/she might not be able to help your child effectively or worse, he/she resign.

But then, how do u determine how many special needs are there in a school? You know a way to tell?

I think if we ask, the school will reveal how many existing special needs students they have. Of course they won’t know how many coming in next P1.

During my time, I had a meeting with the P. He said his school had 1 autistic student (already P4) and he was very sympathetic. Agreed to put my child with a firm & willing teacher who would follow him P1 & P2.

Teachers are more or less fixed but the no of special needs kids changes every year. So I will go for more special needs teachers.

Thank you all for your reply. I was working and now when I checked there were quite a few reply.

Nugget yes trying to be hands on daddy. I work from home so I do fetching dropping job before I start my work . And my daughter and son both a very attached with me specially my daughter, she even don’t let me do work at mid night if I don’t allow her to sleep in same room where I work  and she is only 3 o_O. About school I always see the special need kids are always neglected one here, one day whenever I had enough resources I will do something for these kids. Toilet training also going to be a big issue here , once we try training our son for toilet training he only pee when we bring him in living room and don’t pee when bring him to toilet . Now we are going to start again in June holiday.
Double E, when we were looking for our first childcare, current childcare told us they have special need trained teacher and they can help us but recently she said she is having difficult time because more kids are in class and my son will not sit for sessions (each session is like 20-30 minutes long). So their request was either provide then help (domestic helper tag along) or look for another childcare. And their specific requirement was to provide Pilipino DH because teacher in-charge was Pilipino  and we have Indonesian Domestic helper and don’t want to hire another helper). But end-up they told us to find another childcare and it would be easier (don’t seems easier for us, because both of my kids like going to that childcare. But it is not our choice). Regarding CEL, at first the person from CEL never gave us list and just ask us to choose random name from list which he was mentioning on phone, lucky my wife ask about school address so that we can drop by and get more information before giving school name.

My Ds Asperger as well. He has great difficulties in social context as I’m sure many parents here can imagine and he’s very rigid in his routine. So mum and dad trying to make things as smooth as possible during transition time. Technically end of Jan, initially I thought during the school Christmas break but it will be too late. So current plan not to restart school here, and plan to be in Spore in Sept/Oct. It would be rather late to put him in mainstream CC, not sure wise to put in a new school environment for short while. Currently trying to make plans/gather info for his routine, therapies/swimming/art class/music etc. Its hard when you cant physically be there. Anyone know which music school has a piano programme based on Canadian system here in Spore? Also wonder if Ds has to be reevaluated in Spore? Still sorting out matters with his therapists, hopefully they can give recommendations to which agencies in Spore?

Why don't you wait till you are back to look for the various classes? It would probably be best to see for yourself. Also, your son will need some time to just get used to Singapore, so there is no hurry to start all these classes yet. Too many new things at once will be unsettling. Personally, since you already need to start school in Jan (presumably P1? sorry, I've forgotten), maybe you want to focus on that first.

Hi there! It must have been hard for you with 2 asd children. Hang in there!

Looks like I'm pretty lucky with regards to cc. My boy was kicked out only once.

I think with special needs children, we really cannot expect a lot from mainstream cc. It was till the point when the teacher told me that he refused to do his work, I told them to send the work back home. And when he sat in the corner, even if the teacher ignored him, I also had to bear with it. He also couldn't sit still for long periods of time and will hide in a little corner. I told the teachers that if he wouldn't join them, let him be. I just ask for him to be with other children and when he felt like it, he could 'play' with the rest. Like yours, mine is not the screaming nor hitting child. He was just living in his world and will join when he feels like it. Luckily for us, even when he didn't pay much attention in class, he managed academically.

I'm also glad that I only got him diagnosed at the end of K2 altho I did share my suspicions with the cc supervisor. It solved the problem of having to tell the ccs and getting rejected. But luckily for us, his cc was very open about it. Perhaps it's because they also have orphans/abused children in the cc.

Btw, I heard that Chiltern House have an in house therapist. So those who have the finances can check it out.

BTW someone asked if we have any family history of ASD.

We both are difference races and none of our far relative have ASD case.
My elder brother have 2 kids (boy/girl) normal and my younger sister have a boy also healthy and normal.
My wife side her elder sister have 2 daughter and also normal.
As usual when doctor were not able to find any fault in any family member then they said it is DNA mutation i was like  .
Not easy to manage two kids but they are not that difficult and i pray they stay same 🙏 . Anyway starting their new childcare in April and hoping for the best.

Can I consult any mummies who have sent their kids to Behavioral Mgt Classes before? If so, did you find it effective in reducing disruptive behavior in class?

                        Thanks in advance!
