phtthp:
Did the doctor confirm scientic proof of some DNA genetic mutation? Bec my Chinese friend married a different race, and she has a special need child.
Don't think so lah. My aunt married someone of different race, the kids are fine. Some others I know also have NT kids. So I think it's just natural selection. We will never know why. Maybe someone in our genetic line long long ago had that gene and it just skipped many generations. -
@phtthp, Doctor also have no answer they didn't do any test but this is what they conclude. Anyway every time i think about all this end-up i blame some one with higher power (totally a big topic altogether
).
Anyway KK assigned a FT doctor to my daughter and with her observation she told us maybe our daughter have Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) . My wife and i was not able to sleep for a few nights (all nightmares), then we consulted a specialist (within KK) and she cleared her by doing some test. She also told us if we are that worried and want to do test then they can take blood sample and we will know result in 4-5 months :yikes: (as they have to send blood overseas for finding).
Anyway therapist at EPIC have told us that it is the way she express herself and it can be changed with enforcing different behavioral therapies. -
how about poor health parents ? that can have ASD kids? or older parent?
recently in tv ask the doctor say older parent will get ASD. these days pp get married older maybe that why increase of ASD KIDs. i not sure though.
genetic parents has to get diagnosis if they are ASD OR ASPIE then can confirmed. -

You don't want to go down that road. Perfectly NT parents can have ASD kids, and ASD parents can have normal kids. So what does a test tell you even if it were possible? And although many parents may say that there is no history of ASD in their families, I think because of lower rates of diagnosis in the past and the fact that ASD a huge continuum, there are probably cases somewhere even if not recognised. For my case, I can see that my mother has some of the traits, just less marked, that my Asperger's daughter exhibits. But my brother and I don't have them, so should my parents have had us? -

I hope i can answer poor health but even doctor would not be able to give you 100% sure answer. BTW we were early 30s when we had our kids (is this consider old?), i have seen much older couple have normal kids. BTW the doctor who said older parent could have ASD kids should provide solid evidence, as a doctor you cannot just anyhow say that older=ASD kids.how about poor health parents ? that can have ASD kids? or older parent?

Frankly now i give a hoot about getting tested and diagnosed, because it don't serve any purpose now (i am done making more babies  ). -

I asked this because I just had a baby last year. Still monitoring him. I just hope the baby is okay and I am delaying his MMRV vaccination cos I feel my ASD son changed dramatically after his MMR vaccination. -

Windie,Can I consult any mummies who have sent their kids to Behavioral Mgt Classes before? If so, did you find it effective in reducing disruptive behavior in class?
Thanks in advance!
I attended the Behavioral Mgt Class itself. Its a workshop for parents. Held by KKH called SignPost.
Some mummies here find it not effective, for me. I find it useful for my kids, I even apply it on my NT kid. -
I don’t believe older parents have higher chance of giving birth to ASD kids, Downs syndrome maybe.
I have friends who had kids later than me and the kids turn out fine. However, I do believe is genetic, maybe not in our generation but in other generations. Cos after I thought thru, I realised that one of my cousin’s son seems to have ASD. He was non-verbal when he was around 4-5 years old though he has eye-contact. I remembered him being very hyper too. But we lost touch many years ago, not too sure how is he doing now. And my husband’s cousin too seem to have GDD. -
Slmkhoo agreed .
Double e, my colleague’s fren give birth after 35yo got ASD boy.
My fren also after 35 she got ASD girl.
So I thought these day ASD getting more due to late marriages .
