        Hi hi,

Regarding school shoes, they are allowed to wear track shoes? Noticed most of the seniors wear track shoes. No need to go Bata to buy \"predominantly white shoes\" for the newbies huh.....

Wonder if any yr 1 parents have any comments. Like to share?

        Thanks. šŸ˜„ :lovesite:

As long as the base is white, you can wear. Can have red, black, blue stripes or shapes.

I have already bought DS new bata shoes in Dec. He'll have to wear these until they give way or out grow them before I buy him track shoes...too bad for him šŸ™‚

On Orientation day 1, One of the parents also asked this question - \"How much white is considered as white based?\". The answer is atleast 80% in visible portion, without considering sole (or bottom) color.

The socks can be ankle socks, but the socks must be visible from outside, that means slightly above ankle. Also the socks should not be too bright colors.

              Hi phankao,

Thanks for sharing. Where are the foreign scholars from? China?

So these scholars compete with our local kids aka DD and DS.

By the way, how many students does NJC take in at senior high upon release of A level results? What is the typical cohort at NJC that take the A level exam?

              Appreciate some sharing. šŸ™‚

2 China and 1 Indian in my ds' JH3 class of 28. Small percentage compared to our locals. But then again, even in their own JH1/JH2 cohorts, there are China and Korean students, although these came to study in Singapore much earlier in Primary school and some were even born here, so all took PSLE. Last time I've seen other names that look like the students are from Vietnam/Cambodia/Myanmar, but I'm not sure - for the JH3 new students, I mean.

For JC level, around 500+ available for external intake, I think. This is in addition to the 200+ from IP, which would have a slightly different programme from those who enter at JC1 level.

How is the programme different for those from IP vs JAE?

That's quite a small population for JC level as well right ? only 700+, compared to RJC and HCI population of 1200 each year.

I think not unusual. I read about another JC in the newspaper yesterday? Total intake is around 900? (not RJC/HCI). Anyway, these JCs already have quite a high number for JAE compared to RI/HCI which take in only like 200 from JAE each year, so its very very difficult to get in.

Don't know how to explain. The students who've gone through the IP would certainly need to have a different programme bc if they have the same programme as those who come in under JAE, there might be a lot of overlaps in their learning, since some of the materials would have been covered in the earlier years. So in the JC years, it'd probably be to expand on what has been covered and then to have it more exam-orientated.

You bought him 1 or 2 pairs? I always find 1 pair not enough these days. Not like our time. Must always have spare. And my boys tend to run down their shoes really quickly! Furthermore, my boy is now upsizing his shoes every few mths. He requested for running track shoes for his PE and 2.4km. Also bc he liked to run with the other boys in his year. I did find that the track shoes lasted much longer than the BATA ones with the way he runs his shoes down!
