Hey y1 parents / student, I heard that just over CT 1 exam very tough?
A lot students fail their history & TRP. Just wonder true? Bcos my dd result not so good on Tis 2 subject. -
My DD in Y1 too.
Her CT1 History and Geog results not good. Others subj still good. I think she doesn’t know how to answer as required yet. I am worried, but she said most of her classmates face the same problem and she will learn on her own.
Is it normal?
They took TRP CT1 exam, but from the Y1 booklet, TRP is non-examinable, so is the grade counted? -

Pardon me....what's TRP, i couldnt remember this subj when gal was in yr1...My DD in Y1 too.

If the subj is non-examinable, then it will not be computed in their GPA....
i would say that History's (and geog) results is like a roller coaster.....some current upper sec parents will agree wih me, right ?, esp History ..... -
Ya, feel like my heart just had a roller coaster ride. She was doing well for past assignments and mini tests for History and Geog, but I got a shock when I see her CT1 result - sitting on the borderline. Seems like they are expected to write a lot of essays, no more MCQ or short questions type.
Luckily, she still can get As and Bs for other subjects to balance it.
TRP is Thinking and Research Skills Programme.
She is still adjusting to the long hours in school and 5-6 hours of sleep which is not enough for her. She used to sleep for 8-9 hours in Primary Sch, so now every weekend, she will sleep till 10-11 am to re-charge.
Don’t know how to help. Any advice? -

Yup....for common tests and EOY exams, pupils are tested on essays questions....Ya, feel like my heart just had a roller coaster ride. If possible, get yr girl to book a consultation with the teacher-in-charge to go thru her mistakes in her paper,
whether the problem lies on content or skills .....
Btw, are u going for the PTM to meet the subj teachers?
Deprive of sleep is very very common amongst these IP students....
Getting 5-6 hrs is considered a norm....
When there are days which have lighter workload, i will hurried my gal to go to bed as early as possible,
yes, must chase her to sleep .... :slapshead:
as most often, when there is sparetime, she will spend on FB, instead of rest (i think same goes for most teens)
They have to learn to make use of every opportunities to get more sleep hrs.....
such as napping in the car/bus/mrt....or even during recess time....
but most of their recess time is used for Chionging homework....(poor kids, becos they cannot finish it the night before)
Yes....wkends are the days for them to recharge...... -
A Reminder .....27 th May, this coming Monday is a school holiday.... :imcool:
Long weekend for Parents and Pupils to re-charge.....Cheers !!! -
A long weekend after exams - definitely need a break and enjoy before meeting the teachers next week! Esp my DD2 has been bugging me to bring her to Universal Studio again, so we are all going tomorrow. Hope the weather will be good.
Happy Vesak Day, everyone! -

As what Augmum had mentioned, History and Geo results are like roller coaster. Just to share, DS2 is Y2 now, last year, when he started to write history essays, his results was not even at the borderline (failed badly). After some consultation/clinic sessions with the History teacher, keep practicing his writing skill with the past year papers and let the teacher went through with him, he did improve up to A+. The teachers in DHS are really helpful. My DD in Y1 too.

So do ask your child to consult the teachers as soon as possible as CT2 and EOY for history are all tested on essays. -
Gal requested me to post this video in DHS thread....
She said it was a tiring but fulfilling day for her.....

Fyi, the popular subj combi in DHS is triple sciences and 1 humanities....
Either Geog or Hist....
Not too worry in Sec 2 subj combi.....
U will need to be more specific in yr choices when comes to end of Yr 4 for Yr 5 subj combi.... -

The Open House was great! Since I sent my DD1 to sch that day, I took my DD2 there to play. There are so many carnival games! The students are courteous, fun and friendly, not nerdy at all. My DD2 loves the sch which becomes her dream sch now. Hope she will do well enough to get in.Gal requested me to post this video in DHS thread....

According to my gal, the number of pple who attended the Open House this yr was even more than last yr....
Parents were pleased n full of praises....
But.....it is so quiet in this thread ( as usual....haha)
Yes, she told me about those Carnival games which she missed as she could not leave her CCA booth.....Love Clouds:
That's good.....it serves as a movitation for her to work hard for her Psle....My DD2 loves the sch which becomes her dream sch now. Hope she will do well enough to get in.
Which primary level is she in now ?
Exactly.....that's what gal heard fr some concerned parents who chatted with her....
Their only worry is that their sons/ daughters not able to meet the COP of the sch....
But is good that if these kids have a goal for their dream schs, they will strive for it..... -
Oh, very quiet here during the hols!
Hi Augmum,
Sorry for the late response as my family went for a long holiday and after that working OT to clear tons of work.
My DD2 is in P4, but still behaves like a baby (maybe she is youngest in family and among her cousins).
During the open house, I saw that they have DSA for uniform group (leadership). Do you know if anyone get in thru that? Is the chance slimmer compare to Sports and Performing Arts? -

Hi all, I'm trying to source for more challenging IP questions and is hoping to exchange notes and assignments from these schools. Looking mainly into Physics and Math, I've some materials from a few schools myself, if you are keen please drop me a pm. Thanks.
You are an industrious pupil......

My son is going for DSA interview this Friday.
