      Hi Augmum,

Yup, my gal is taking \"A\" level this year.

When is your gal's common test?

Normally result of first test not so good but maybe your gal is exceptional.

JieTing, gal's common tests will be in 2 -3 wks time.....

Oops It's NOT 2-3 wks time, is the wk after next....she remembers wrongly....LoL :faint:

Even if you are having a car pool in the morning, you may want to note a shorter route (maybe your DD may use after school when returning home):
        1) MRT NS Line Yishun to Bishan, then transfer to MRT Circle Line (10mins+3 mins walk to Circle Line)
        2) MRT Circle Line Bishan to Mountbattan (17mins)
        3) Take bus 158 from outside MRT Mountbattan station (8mins)

I think this is a shorter route than what you have mentioned. Hope this helps.

pen88n, guess u 're good in \" manoeuvre ard in SG in MRT\" :salute:
After 2 yrs in DHS, shame to say that i have the faintest idea when parents asked me abt how to get to DHS with public transport.

Take SVc 39 to Tampines JC and transfer to Sv12. Alight at Blk 2 at bus stop #91091 on Mountbatten road. Follow the DHS students walk to the school's hostel entrance. Maybe entire journey is 60minutes.

              My DD in Y1 too.

Her CT1 History and Geog results not good. Others subj still good. I think she doesn’t know how to answer as required yet. I am worried, but she said most of her classmates face the same problem and she will learn on her own.
              Is it normal?
They took TRP CT1 exam, but from the Y1 booklet, TRP is non-examinable, so is the grade counted?

Pardon me....what's TRP, i couldnt remember this subj when gal was in yr1...

If the subj is non-examinable, then it will not be computed in their GPA....

i would say that History's (and geog) results is like a roller coaster.....some current upper sec parents will agree wih me, right ?, esp History ..... 😉 😂

Ya, feel like my heart just had a roller coaster ride. She was doing well for past assignments and mini tests for History and Geog, but I got a shock when I see her CT1 result - sitting on the borderline. Seems like they are expected to write a lot of essays, no more MCQ or short questions type.

Luckily, she still can get As and Bs for other subjects to balance it.
TRP is Thinking and Research Skills Programme.
She is still adjusting to the long hours in school and 5-6 hours of sleep which is not enough for her. She used to sleep for 8-9 hours in Primary Sch, so now every weekend, she will sleep till 10-11 am to re-charge.
Don’t know how to help. Any advice?

Yup....for common tests and EOY exams, pupils are tested on essays questions....

If possible, get yr girl to book a consultation with the teacher-in-charge to go thru her mistakes in her paper,
whether the problem lies on content or skills .....

Btw, are u going for the PTM to meet the subj teachers?

Deprive of sleep is very very common amongst these IP students....
Getting 5-6 hrs is considered a norm.... 😉
When there are days which have lighter workload, i will hurried my gal to go to bed as early as possible,
yes, must chase her to sleep .... :slapshead:
as most often, when there is sparetime, she will spend on FB, instead of rest (i think same goes for most teens)
They have to learn to make use of every opportunities to get more sleep hrs.....
such as napping in the car/bus/mrt....or even during recess time....
but most of their recess time is used for Chionging homework....(poor kids, becos they cannot finish it the night before)

Yes....wkends are the days for them to recharge...... 😂

A long weekend after exams - definitely need a break and enjoy before meeting the teachers next week! Esp my DD2 has been bugging me to bring her to Universal Studio again, so we are all going tomorrow. Hope the weather will be good.
