Is the Magic Schoolbus okay?

There’s this series called The Way Things Work. There are a few CDs on heat, telecommunications etc. I don’t know if it follows the local science syllabus but it’s fantastic. Its based on a book with the same name by David McCauley you can buy at kinokuniya. This book is among my son’s top all- time favourite books.

I tried showing that book to my DD1 when she was in K1/K2 but I think she got put off by information overload. Maybe for slightly older kids or younger kids who are really passionate about such things? :?

Hi Schellen, I haven't read the book to be honest :). I bought it because I read reviews that said it was great for kids who like building or who are highly visual. Turned out to be true. I think it's a very boy book, if you know what I mean. My son even insisted on buying the newer version called The New Way Things Work. He says there are some updated chapters.
Btw, I did watch the DVDs- they cover more varied science topics than the book, I think. Maybe yr daughter will like that better? -
hi Blobbi, i think my dd1 prefers those tt have simple experiments tt she can do on her own at home. she learns abt the concepts tt way. i think she prefers practical to theory.

*gasp* what do we do Blobbi ?! My son's top favourite book too. I sort of 'hate it' as it is bulky and I have it cart it around with him. Honestly, if we two share a home library we will save a lot of space and $
