UMF stands for Unique Manuka Factor, the antibacterial factor in Active Manuka Honey that is responsible for naturally destroying bacteria such as staph (staph aureus), strep (streptococcus) and H. Pylori (Helicobacter Pylori). Only Active Manuka Honey contains UMF®. That makes Active Manuka Honey the only honey shown to kill H. Pylori.

          The UMF is like antibacterials.

it is not advisable for young kids to take is bcos they are building up their immune- system.

Multivit that contains Omega 3 and 6, Bcomplex and Vit C would be better options.

Omega 3 and 6 is for brain development
          Bcomplex is for energy release
Vit C is for immunity and antioxidants.

          Hope this helps.

            Hi,

I’ve read so much about the goods of Manuka honey and I’ve given my son 2.5 year old to try as he’s having very bad cough & running nose. It’s the first time he took manuka honey, i give him a small teaspoon undiluted UMF 15+. After taken it, the next evening he developed hives. Any mummies have experience that they kids got hives from drinking manuka honey? He has been taking some products with honey content before but didn’t developed any allergies so I’m not sure is it becoz the UFM level 15+ too high for him?

              Hi,

Some folks have been asking about Honeyworld brand Manuka honey. Me, my hubby, and my 2 kids started on 15+ and 5+ respectively since a month ago after reading up on this thread. We take it every morning before breakfast.

My hubby’s sinus symptoms have dramatically reduced and as for myself, I find that my complexion has become more radiant haha. Not sure if it’s really due to the Manuka honey, I just pray that this radiance stays wahahaa…

I have done some price checks for the various brands. Honeyworld is one of the more expensive ones, but not a big difference and since it works for me I thought might as well continue. 500g is $70 ( but got promos on and off) comvita and eys is slightly cheaper.

I bought it t the honey world shop itself at Parkway Parade. I believe Robinsons and OG also stock them.

                  Umf 15+
500g $70, but members got 10% off or more during promos.

Manuka honey is not suitable for everyone, especially children. I usually only feed my kids with the normal australian honey. Adults benefit quite a lot from manuka honey though. my favourite deal site is having an offer (http://tinyurl.com/75wtzpu), but i already have two similar honey bottles at home, cannot finish.. heheh!

                        Dear Gladychan and others,

Can someone advise: is 11 year old child too young to take Manuka honey ( I usually add a squeeze of lemon too) for sore throat etc?

                        What’s the caution?
