RE: Do you compare your kid's marks with others?
I totally can understand if kids are in the same sch or same class. But can you imagine I have relative keep comparing her gal result with my gal? They are totally in 2 different schools. Keep shower her gal result like spelling, ting xie, etc always get 100 marks. Can I ask how to compare result when they in 2 different sch? Is this fair to compare like this? How can I deal with her next time? :?

At least for now, in order to gain my well done again, DD is putting in slightly more effort on her Chinese. Although she still doesn’t like it. Scoring 80+ in her class is considered low. Well, I must say I got to be contented.
I agree !HyperKiasu:
parents should compare the results vertically(kis' performance in the past) instead of horizontally (with peers) -

ME! when my DD get 80+ for her chinese. She never did well in her chinese until in Pri 1.My colleague, whose kids are in the same primary school as mine, tried hard to get me to tell her my girl's SA1 marks. I said I forgot. I did not ask her kids' marks at all, but she could not help it and told me.
Kids are only in P1 ! I do not believe that learning should be about competition. My girl's school only published the lowest and highest marks of all students for each subject, and I think that is good enough.
MOE has just announced that there will be no more exams in P1. I actually think that it is fine to have exams from P1 to P6. But they should disallow ranking in primary schools in all levels. The problem is not with exams, it is with the endless comparisons by parents.
My colleague said that her girl scored near the highest marks, but she is still not happy, because she said that \"many kids also scored near the highest marks\". This is not true because it is a neighbourhood school and the teacher told me that many kids still cannot read in P1. Even in a brand name school where more than half the kids can get near perfect scores, parents should still be happy for their kids.
Just curious. Are there any parents out there who actually say \"Well Done\" when your child gets 80+ marks ? -

I never had the chance anymore, cos DD is mine only 1 and oni. I think no1 would risk to let me bath their baby!1littlegal, yes, me too. Never bathe dd until she could hold her neck firmly. I too scared ....
But now you ask me to bathe for little babies, I am fine leh.
You hold her neck or you 掐 her neck? Hahahah ....
I also remember, I always ask my mum, why dd always cry and cry. What did she want? Stupid question I ask hor

RE: Any Mommies in mid-late 30s with teenages
Thinking back on the past, I really wanna laugh at my stupid and funny action. All along DD was carefully handed by mum and maid. So I fine day, this mummy trying to act motherly wanted to bath her DD (3mth old) for the 1st time. Wow I never know this could be so difficult and DD was quite heavy at that time. Without few second, DD burst into tears.Cos the way I hold her neck and head was so uncomfortable for her and I almost drop the whole baby into the tub of water. Immediately mum takes over. As usually, being scolded up side dwn. So from that time onward, I never get a chance to bath my DD until she can hold her neck firmly. I really “PEI FU” those mummies who can bath a baby. 1 hand holds the baby neck, 1 hand bath the baby!

After seeing the other thread \"Any Mommies in mid-late 30s or over 40 with small children\", thinking why there is thread on the other side. Is it common here of mummies have their first kid at early 20s?
