nicnac:

Age diff is constant = 3yrs
Sum of their age now = 13 -2-2=9
Abby's age now = (9 - 3)/2 = 3yrs old

I interpreted that the combined age of 13 in 2 yrs time is from NOW.
Nicnac is right. The age difference between any two people is always constant. So the sentence \" Abby was 3 years younger than Belle last year\" can also be interpreted as Abby's age now is also 3 years younger than Belle's age now.

You are most welcome! All the best to you and your ds for the decision-making and the PSLE!! Sometimes the child suddenly decides to grow up when the time is right so he may surprise you after the Prelims with this..

My DS is the bochap type. Now that he received WL, it still doesn't motivate him to study harder for his prelim/PSLE. Really worried for him, how to excel in PSLE? I would prefer to enter the school through DSA to reduce the PSLE stress. Should my DS select HCI, my only worry is his Chinese as this is his weakest subject. Not sure if he can cope.

Prettydol, I think my DS can be good friends with your DS šŸ˜‚ They have so much in common :hugs:

I guess we still need to push them to work really hard for PSLE no matter which school they ended up in ultimately. RI and HCI both have rigorous programs so they better wake up now then later :nunchuk:
I am in a dilemma now. DS got RI WL and HCI WL1. According to HCI, WL1 will still gain admission. DS wants to go RI while we prefer to secure a place in HCI. Headache!

In the same boat as Prettydol :slapshead: . How huh?! Any one can advise? :salute:

It is hard to advise but you can consider the following in your thoughts process and weigh the points that are critical to him.

1. nothing is guaranteed in RI's WL but HCI's WL1 is guaranteed. (the saying 'a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush') Doing HCI's DSA is also not easy...your child has to understand that.
2. only your child knows if he will be miserable in HCI (culture & environment is important for a child to thrive)
3. only your child knows how much he is motivated to strive to get RI's COP, relying on a closer COP together with WL is a better bet since the queue number is not known. (appeal will be better chance even if missed COP slightly)
4. Can your child accept missing both boats? Any 3rd choice to make him happy? (just in case)

Most importantly, the child is the one going to the school so the child's choice has to play the bigger role in order for lesser rebellion during the teenage years. No one really knows what's best until in hindsight.

And you only need to think about this in October...so meanwhile relax.

My 2 cents.
Sushi88: :thankyou:

Very sound advice, will discuss with DH and DS. Blessed weekend, everyone :imcool:

Hi Song22, care to explain what does WS1 mean for HCI? Does it mean must put HCI as 1st choice?

Hi, first congrats all who have gotten CO and WL1 from HCI.

Last year, my ds was in WL1 too. And according to the school and if I remember correctly, for the past few years all WL1 were converted to CO. (This is my understanding and my point doesn't represent the school) I believe the HCI letter comes with a date for a talk, please attend the talk and the principal will explain better.

Some kids might have applied to a few schools and I believe many GEP kids usually prefer RI. Some might choose NUSH and that's how the WL gets converted.

If you got WL1 from HCI and CO from School Y, if HCI were your preferred school, you need to put HCI as first choice, or else, you will get posted to School Y.

Hope the above helps.

Very crisp and clear šŸ˜„ Thanks for the prompt reply, Song22 :thankyou:

Any idea if compo will be tested during screening test

Not that I know of ...unless they change the format this year.
You should be given an official letter from the school informing you what are being tested.

SOS mum:
Hi, ps help...Many thks n God Bless:)

Tap P can fill a tank in 4 hours while Tap Q can fill the same tank in 6 hours. Boths taps were turned on at the same time. How long does it take for the tank to be 1/2 full of water?
LCM method

LCM of 4 and 6 is 12.

Tap P--4 hrs ---1 tank
Tap P--12 hrs---3 tanks

Tap Q--6 hrs--1 tank
Tap Q--12 hrs-- 2 tanks

Both --12 hrs--5 tanks
Both--12/5= 2.4 hrs -- 1 tank
Both--1.2 hrs--1/2 tank

Ans: 1.2 hrs
