RE: All About Dyslexia
Hi, many people mentioned that learning music can help a dsylexic child a lot. Is it true? what kind of musical instruments are recommended for a young child with dsylexia? Thank you!

Hi, to response whether it will be beneficial, you will have to see whether your child has the interest to learn a particular musical instrument. If you child shows interest then it will be easier to channel his energy to learn a musical instrument of his choice.
Another consideration is to make sure that his/her academic difficulties do not interfere with musical enjoyment e.g. reading the music scores may be challenging if he/she has visual eye tracking issues. If he has hand-eye coordination issues, then working on a string instrument or playing on the keyboard may be tough for him/her initially.
On the other hand, music can be helpful for academic skills e.g. if he/she loves to sing, then reading the lyrics of songs can help to improve word recognition and spelling skills.
Music and art therapy are very popular nowadays. They can be engaging and relaxing. Besides music, you can also consider sports which build confidence and improves motor skills.
Hope the tip helps. For more sharing, please refer to http://www.facebook.com/cheerslearningservices
Thanks Cheers LS!
thanks for your advice, will read into the link you shared.

Go to school:
Yes. Canteen is open at 12pm, no worries. Parents are not allowed in the school (unless u are doing PV on that day).when will CCA starts? I haven't got any notice yet.
What I am concerned is the lunch before school on CCA days. Will the canteen be open at 12Pm? Parents are allowed to accompany in the school?
My girl told me that the toilet is dirty and toilet roll is too high for her to draw tissues. Everyday come back home and rush to toilet......
Yes some toilets are really very dirty n smelly. Mostly no toilet papers.
Hope the school can do something about it too. -

How does this banding works? Will the school takes the mean results of 3 subjects? Or will they be banded according to subjects? Ie. the child might have to change classes for every different lessons. Please advise. Thanks.
Yes, correct.Lalamum:
Hi all,
There is no banding system for P1.
The entire class will move automatically to the next level. E.g if your DC is from 1I she will automatically move to 2I.
Only at end P2 there is \"silent\" banding and the official one is at end P3.
So, P1 will move up to next year p2 same class, together with the (same classmates + normally , also together with the same form teachers & co-form teachers).
So, example:
2014 class 1g will move up into class 2015 class 2g, next year.
And To add on,
when come to end of p2 term 4 -
school strictly look at only p2 results, for \"silent banding\" into p3 classes.
School won't look into past p1 results performance @ end of p2, to decide \"silent banding\". if child did not do well in p1, child can still catch up in p2.
But @end of p3 -
Will be \"official banding\". -
