RE: Raffles Girls' Primary
phtthp:
We do not include (guitar, ukulele) under \"string ensemble\" cca.3Blessings:
Is guitar under string ensemble as well, or no?
There is also no cca for piano.
if girls keen to learn piano, they can learn on their own, outside school.
for \"violin cca\" (P3 to P6) -
pupils taking this will take violin ABRSM practical exam, in September.
Fees for one whole year is below $400.
(based on today's current rate)
Ok noted. Thanks!

RE: Raffles Girls' Primary
phtthp:
Thank you so much for your detailed info
p1 / p2 girls can join \"band cca\", but not join \"string ensemble.\"3Blessings:
I read somewhere that Rgps have strings ensemble too.
Is it part of the band cca?
\"String ensemble\" -
is a cca for p3 to p6 girls, to join.
\"String ensemble\" is a group of girls who have attained higher standard in playing violin, cello, double bass.
Good players from \"violin cca\" (another cca from p3 to p6), have a chance to join \"string ensemble\", after she pass grade 2 violin exam.
\"String ensemble\" have chance to perform in school events.
For big events like sg youth festival -
\"string ensemble\" will represent our school Rgps, to perform.
At the moment, there is no \"violin cca\" for p1/p2.
\"Violin cca\" only start from p3.
We have grade 1 & grade 2 session(s), for \"violin cca\"
As lessons are conducted in a group, personal attention is not as much as attending individual lessons.
But If pupils have regular practice at home, the lessons conducted in school are sufficient for them to be ready to take the violin exam, at the end of about 9 months. Your child will need to pay for exam fees.
In \"band cca\" however -
we will not teach string instruments.
For \"band cca\" performance -
Other than school events, we do arrange outdoor performance.
As for how often we perform, it depend.
We will try to arrange at least one performance outdoor, per year.

Thanks for the info.P1 band cca
===============
No pre-requisites required, to join.
There will be a band instructor, to teach our girls basic music theory.
Band instructor will introduce the different family of instruments, to the girls.
Pupils can highlight to either band instructor, or teacher in charge, which instrument they like to play.
However, after a few session(s), if the instructor feel that the child is more suitable for another instrument, he will encourage the child to change to another instrument.
Normally, mini trumpet will be the first instrument that they will start off with. After that, will monitor their progress from there, & select an instrument for them.
I read somewhere that Rgps have strings ensemble too.

Thank you!Today is week 1.
Details will be made known by end of week 3 -
through your p1 form teacher.
You may let your form teacher know which p1 cca you are keen in.
Form teacher will inform you which day to start, in week 5 earliest, or later.
P1 cca is optional, not compulsory.
Some practice fall on Tuesday, 10 am (eg : rhythmic gym, Chinese cultural dance)
Some practice fall on Thursday, 10 am (eg : choir, basketball, table tennis, etc)
Thank you
Some cca are free -
no need to pay $ (eg: choir)
Other cca may need to pay small amount $ -
if school engage / hire external professional coaches, to teach students the skill set. After you join that cca, you may then ask the teacher in charge, how much fees ? They may look at total number of students who had enrolled for that particular cca, before decide how much to charge.
P1 cca -
You have to settle transport to school on your own, because no school bus provided.
You may join later, not necessary must be in term 1.
If a child join later & show good attitude in learning, the co cca tr will inform the main cca teacher in charge, look out for this child.
Important thing is ...
The child must be interested in the cca, willing to learn.
Rgps tr look at attitude.
