Does anyone here know how the selection for appeal is like? I know the first selection is based on t score with up to 6 or 13 dec places. How about appeal case? Will thr school know the unrounded t score? Does it vary among different schools?
My son will be going to RI from this new batch. Now looking at travelling options from Marine Parade - Car pool, School transport, bus+MRT.
I heard one way school bus is available from some parts of Singapore. Wonder if our area qualifies.
Congrats on getting into RI!
There's a school bus service. My daughter takes the school bus to RI(JC) from Pasir Ris. The bus also picks up students from RI since the two schools are so close to each other. You should be able to make arrangements for transport on reporting day.
Thanks a lot. With helpful information on this site like these, my life has been so much simpler.
There will be a few bus operators at the registration day giving out leaflets on the bus services. So not to worry on the bus service. My son takes school bus from Bedok everyday, one way. Fast and safe and economical.

RE: Raffles Institution (Year 1-4)
I took leave last year to accompany my son. I purchased his textbooks n uniform all on that day. Everything was very orderly and well organized… Definitely not those chaotic type that I faced in his primary school. There were even RI boys walking around in baskets offering us snacks and drinks. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. I was so impressed by the whole set up.
The textbooks were really heavy… So I advise one parent to tag along. -

ngl2010:
Thanks ngl2010. My son was in ODAC and represented his school in debate. Frankly I know he doesn't stand a chance..will just need to manage his expectations .
To be honest, the chance is slim. So far, the successful appeal cases I knew were only 2 points away at most. However, there is no harm to appeal. In the appeal form, there is a question whether any of the parents or siblings was/is in RI but I don't know what they use the information for.3Ymom:
DS just got his psle results w t score 253. He only has eyes for RI as his brother is currently in year one.
What is the chance if he appeals? I told him is slim as he is 6 marks always from Cop. Is the chance higher w a sibling in RI too?
Does your DS excel in any sports? -

Hi Pirated, come to think of it, there is no profiling for unformed groups..does that mean is the student who chooses the cca then?please don't forget that in general it is the CCA chooses you, not you choose the CCA
no more compulsory profiling for core CCA ? -
RE: Raffles Institution (Year 1-4)
ngl2010:
Hi Pirate and NGL, yes, they hv compulsory profiling for 6 sports. At the end of the profiling, the student more or less know if he is eligible for the sports..so the tr-in-charge do tell them that they are totally out or stand very high chance of getting in. Eg my son is short, so basketball is totally out..he took his weight, judo is out too. Floorball, he is interested, and coach told him he stands high chance to get in. As for the CCA change, the Tr (cant rem his name) did say this is provided there is also another boy who wants to be transferred out from the other CCA that DS wants to be transferred to..ie chances could be quite slim.
Have. But one of the CCA teachers told me that the school will try to accommodate student's first choice as much as possible. Also, student can ask for CCA change after 6 months. Am I too optimistic here?pirated:
