Anyone managed to log in to nTRIX? I couldn't log in to the site anymore. I used to be able to do so to check my son's results but now my DD is in RV, the site seemed to have removed my account.

Try logging on to https://rvhs8.asknlearn.com/Lms/default ... =%2flms%2f with your child's account first before accessing NTRIX from there. Once you've logged in to asknlearn, click on \"Links\" then \"NTRIX Main\" to access NTRIX!

Hi KiasuAdult,

Thanks for the information. I have tried that but it wasn't working either. I suspect they have lost my profile in their system. My kids were able to log in just fine. Anyway, I have written an email to them for assistance.

Regards
They have changed the system from NTRIX to lms.asknlearn.com. You need to create a new account. Pls read the user guide below.

r they supposed to choose 1 cca fr the uniform gp out of the 3 choices? I also wld like to know the sch fees as it is not stated anywhere. Does the sch hv study week prior to test/exam since they hv to stay for cca for 2/3 days, by the time they reached home they r too tired to do anything but zzz. Any parents/ seniors can help?

You can refer to http://www.rivervalleyhigh.moe.edu.sg/cos/o.x?c=/wbn/pagetree&func=view&rid=1136087 about the school CCA.

For Singaporean, the school fees is S$23 a month. You can opt for GIRO payment. I don't know about non-Singaporean.

There will be a few study days before year end exam. Secondary school curriculum is quite a big jump from primary school. Don't worry. Your kid will be able to adjust to it after a few weeks.

Do you mind to explain why? Is RV method of calculating GPA \"better\" compared to other schools? How do other schools calculate their GPA?

Oh yes...... RV computation of GPA is certainly more fair to pupils compared to DHS.
RGS is another IP sch having a fair GPA computation.

In DHS, the max of GPA obtained is only 4.0 even for marks above 85.
And there is no \" in - between\" scale for A 1 and A2 or B3 and B4, etc...
Hence, can u imagine the frustration of pupils getting a X9 marks ??
a difference of only 1 mark ( or 1/2 mark as recently they do roundup), But the drop of GPA is 0.8
Also, there is no difference in scoring X0 and X9 marks..... :siao: .

U can read more abt our ranting in DHS thread here :nunchuk:

Thanks for sharing. Now I understand. Just noticed that there is another \"abitkiasu\" parent in a different thread. šŸ˜„

So what are the advantages of limiting or totally phasing out triple sciences at O level?

Why isn't there any faculty in U that requires biology at H2 level as a prerequisite?

According to P, RV strongly encourages students to take Chem as one of the Sc subjects which allows them to do medicine in U too, if they want to (?!?)
I am very surprised that NUS (medicine) would take in a student who did Chem but not bio.

Just for sharing, the course pre-requisites of NUS is given below. There is no mandatory requirement for Bio at A level even for Medicine and Bioengineering.
http://www.nus.edu.sg/oam/apply/local/prerequisites/BYA-prerequisites.html

I heard the P mentioned something like if you don't do Bio at A level, you can just pick up any Bio 101 textbook to study and you will be ok. But for Chem, if your foundation is no good, you will suffer.

Firstly, understand that
(score range) (grade) (grade pts)
=>85 A1* = 5.0
75-84 A1 = 4.0

70-74 A2 = 3.5
65-69 B3 = 3.0
60-65 B4 = 2.5
55-59 C5 = 2.0
50-54 C6 = 1.5
45-49 D7 = 1.0
40-44 E8 = 0.5
<40 F9 = 0

Show my gal the above, she was salivating :please: at the way RV GPA is ranked.
Indeed , there are much grievance amongst the dunmanians wrt to their GPA computation. 🤷

Do you mind to explain why? Is RV method of calculating GPA \"better\" compared to other schools? How do other schools calculate their GPA?

Hi,

May I know whether RVHS requires all students to take higher Chinese? Do they allow students to take normal Chinese if they find they cannot cope?

For that matter, do SAP schools allow students a choice to take higher Chinese or normal Chinese. I have read through several threads and cannot get definite answers.

Perhaps, parents of students in RVHS or other SAP schools can advise? Thanks.
Yes. All students in RV must take a subject called Higher Chinese and Chinese Culture. They also need a score of B4 and above in order to be promoted to the next level.
A comparison of A Level results: RI,HCI,VJC,NJC,TJC,DHS,RVHS

Following information obtained from above schools' websites.
The percentage scoring at least 3 distinctions in H2 subjects.
Please correct if there are mistakes.

1. RI - 68%
Half of the cohort scored a distinction in all 4 H2 subjects, the highest since the first cohort who offered the revised A-Level curriculum in 2007. 622 students (50%) scored 4 distinctions in the content-based subjects, and 853 students (68%) scored 3 distinctions in the content-based subjects.

2. HCI - more than 50%
Over half the cohort of 1200 has scored at least 3 H2 Distinctions

3. VJC - 50%
1 in 2 Victorians scored at least 3 distinctions in H2 content-based subjects and record-breaking 28% Victorians scored 4 distinctions in H2 content-based subjects.

4. NJC - 44%
Overall, 44% of students scored 3 or 4 H2 Distinctions

5. TJC - not available

6. DHS - 40%
40% of the cohort achieved at least 3 H2 Distinctions.

7. RVHS - not available

Zhuge,

If you compare the results by the no. of distinctions, then DHS would have done much better than NJC. Let's use no. of students with 6 distinctions or above:

DHS: 141 students or 25% of cohort size
source:http://www.zaobao.com.sg/sp/sp120303_009_1.shtml

NJC: 99 students (cohort size unknown but definitely at least twice that of DHS. Let's assume it's 700) or 14.1% (estimated)

In terms of 7 distinctions DHS also has more students compared to both NJC and RV
NJC

DHS: 39
NJC: 32
RV: 28 (of comparable cohort size with DHS)

yes, that's what i did. the percentage of 3 H2 distinctions and above, which i think is a better reflection of the overall standard...
I thought the mean of 3 H2 subjects plus 1 H1 subject of the whole cohort is a better reflection of the overall standard rather than percentage of 3 H2 distinctions and above. Or am I wrong? Pls enlighten me. Thanks.

I wonder why other schools did not seem to have this issue.
It is sad to see such news in the paper. I think RV has a good intention to hold dialogue sessions with parents to clarify doubts and get feedback. Not sure whether other schools even hold such sessions.
