I expect my DS to get around overall AL11, with Math at AL2 and Chinese AL1 consistently over these 2 years. Upon getting the PSLE result, Math dropped to AL5 and Chinese to AL3. So AL16 now. Totally puzzled as DS said that the paper was manageable. It seemed what happened to my DS was also encountered by quite a few parents. Anyway, we didn’t cry at all. My approach is that the parent’s reaction will pass to the child. Stay positive and the child will be fine.

RE: 2022 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (born in 2010)
Hi may I get some opinions. If my DS gets AL16, is it wise that I choose the 6 choices ranging from schools with COP 15 to COP18? Or is it safer to buffer safety net till COP19?

Thanks for the above clarifications. I was trying to see if the time spent on higher Chinese is worth it as my child is average in it and may need more time to focus on other core subjects. However, if higher Chinese can open up more doors and opportunities, he shall continue. Will consider properly… thanks!

Is my understanding correct on the benefit of higher Chinese (HCL) under the new AL system?
The HCL will come into picture only when there is a tie, affecting only students who meet the exact cut off point of the SAP school? Eg. If the particular SAP school’s COP is 8 points, those who take HCL will override those without HCL. Those with HCL distinction will override those with merit. HCL has no effect for those who score 7 points and below or 9 points and above.

\"Sorry, Not convenient to lend u my notes to zap. \" - In my opinion, the notes are personal and it is really not an obligation for the \"best friend\" to lend them if she feels not convenient to do so. Are the scribbling of words too messy? Have the friend made any notes only she can understand? If so, what if those notes are being copied without proper understanding and the meanings are misinterpreted? Some teachers will remind students not to copy one another's notes blindly without due understanding.

Meaning they could be more senior batch. At least last year sec 1 is already mixed up. But I don't know which year they stop these classifications. Parent chat group super quiet.
In your daughter's IP school, in the past, they used to have dedicated Gep classes, separate from Mainstream. In recent years, then become mixed.
For Nygh, in the past, the other way round.
In the past, NYGH used to allocate a few Top Mainstream students with high 26x Tscore or with 27x & above, into GEP classes. Now (today), NYGH still keep the Gep classes separate from Mainstream, don't mix, do not put the Top Mainstream students into GEP classes anymore.
Also, parent chat group are super quiet, in Top schools or in Top few classes. When come to non academic stuff, they are willing to share info, eg. Their children in the class go school excursion, take lots of excursion photos, they very willing to share photos readily, inside chat group etc .
But when it come to Academic related stuff like exam results (grades), year end streaming into different classes, Psle Tscore, etc, there's a big contrast, all parents inside the chat group keep quiet as a mouse, nobody shared info
In your daughter's current IP school, at A-level years in Year 5 and 6, there is cut throat competition, because competing for scholarship.
One of my friend's daughters, joined your daughter's IP JC, at A level.
She came in as a JAE student, after O-level, not those who joined IP programme, since day 1, Sec 1.
What happened was
She was hospitalized from dengue fever, for more than a week.
So, she asked to borrow lecture notes from her so called \"best\" friend to zap, and assured her friend that she will immediately return her the zapped notes, after zapping, because she had missed several lectures for several subjects, during those days hospitalized.
Guess how her \"best\" friend reply her ? \"Sorry, Not convenient to lend u my notes to zap. \" Friend said her girl was very lonely, inside these 2 years in the JC.
I think the 2 best friends should talk things through. If any child has any doubt of their friend's character or behaviour and choose to keep quiet about it without clarification, the child might gradually isolate herself and not willing to establish any trust with friend(s) anymore.
If it is really so that the so-called best friend is indeed selfish, be grateful to see her true colour early so that she can move on, and avoid spending time and effort into investing in an unworthy friendship. -

That is not the case for my friend’s daughter. She is enjoying the school life there with great teachers, score well consistently and usually sleep before 10.30pm. Think different kids have varying coping abilities.
my friend's daughter in IP3 @Dunman High, said got so many projects to do, said past mid-night then sleep
Every IP school IP curriculum is different, cannot compare -

Side track a little to third language. Don’t know if I missed out the discussion on this earlier on or on another thread. My question is: For a bilingual student strong in English and very strong in Chinese, with zero exposure to foreign language,
1) is French or Japanese more useful, considering taking bicultural studies concurrently.
2) which one is easier with fewer dropout based on past intakes? -

感谢您,chenlaoshi. You always give good advice. I am kind of relieved after knowing that my child still have a chance to pull through with a decent grading.AAHL\" post_id=\"1939372\" time=\"1570001259\" user_id=\"176898:
Can chenlaoshi or any experienced teacher advise: if the student crafted the plot well to talk about the incident that led to the wrongly accuse of friend but at conclusion state 再也不冤枉朋友了。there is no mention of 主题 words “相信” in the compo at all. is this acceptable or will there be penalize? If there is penalize, usually how many marks?
AAHL,
We take into consideration the cohesiveness of the story and how aligned it is to the theme (and whether the stated details in the question are addressed/touched on).
Students are usually reminded to mention the key words and/or echoing in starting and ending of the story because this is the most straight forward way to 点题 but there’s no fix and hard rule that non-mention of exact key words = penalisation
冤枉他人的主要前提是对对方不够信任。Hence, the situation you mentioned (not withstanding the other requirements stated in the question) is not to the extent of out of topic and won’t result in being penalised. The impact will be more towards how well the student can score for content (similar to the effect of whether both main theme and sub theme are touched on for Monday’s picture composition).
Although not obligated, you are always helpful in addressing concerns. You are a true educator.
