RE: All About ADHD : Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Something that may be worth reading related to stimulant meds:
http://www.additudemag.com/adhdblogs/19/12385.html
Children with ADHD who take medication until adulthood may end up significantly shorter than their peers, according to new data from a long-term study — without a corresponding decrease in ADHD symptoms to make up for it -
RE: Helping a child to concentrate
ADHD has very wide degree of severity too. How bad is his ADHD? I've seen kids who truly cannot sit still for long and always aggressive. It's really difficult in those cases. (for the Singapore parent)

my friend's kid who are diagnosed with ADHD, can still do well in studies though cannot really concentrate well.

RE: Catholic High (Primary)
@anniecwl
I don't pretend to know the answer to this and truly hope they do! Let me know if you ever find out!
According to my son, though, some teachers seem really strict and unforgiving if you forget stuff etc. There are relatively consistent threats of punishment for those who can't keep up. (not grades but for poor behavior or forgetting stuff) But they may be more forgiving if they know of the underlying situation.
3 of the boys in my son's class are supposedly \"scolded\" by some teachers almost daily for not keeping up or talking etc. Do take note that it's a young boy's report tho. Catholic High looks like an well-oiled efficient machine. I'm not so sure they have teachers to spare. I do know what you speak of though. Whilst overseas, we had the chance to watch Learning Support teachers at work. These were awesome for those who needed a little nudge in the right direction. Typically for kids who had atrocious handwriting, problems paying attention or other mild disabilities.
If you follow this link on Allied Educators:

Do check it out and give MOE a call maybe or Catholic High itself?Anniecwl:
Hi anyone knows if the school is supportive of any kids with mild learning difficulties like high functioning autism, dyslexia?

RE: COE trends
COE price will never drop that much of course. Considering we're now at about half the peak price with Uber/Grab etc, I think it actually isn't that bad. But most of us won't want to pay so much for a piece of entitlement. With slowing economy, uncertain outlook and the improvement of public transport, more people are opting to invest elsewhere too. I've seen quite a few living in condos who rely on grab/uber rather than drive actually. I think this is a trend that will become more popular over time.
So it's possible that in the short term, COE prices may drop further. Especially so if Grab/Uber get their own category. (which I doubt) If you want an investment that will only appreciate in the long run, then your better bet is still property.
Imp75:
hubby says COE won't drop, it will rise like inflation and a good source of revenue for G. Most prob introduce a new category for Uber/Private car hire COE. Best is; COE will direct bidding by car buyers so car sellers cannot regulate the prices but seems unlikely to have such a huge change.

RE: COE trends
Just to clarify that when I said $3-6k for a branded continental car... that does not include the PARF rebate. Body only!
adhd.dad:
Eh if we strictly refer to car body value aka scrap or export resale... then that depends on the car model. I think smaller CC cars pay a few hundred when you scrap. And bigger CC car pays just slightly more.
But if you have a continental car like BMW, Audi, Mercedes etc, it might be worth more if you can find an exporter who is interested in your car. Good body condition and a black color body helps too! I hear those guys might pay S$3-6k! -

RE: COE trends
Actually, you're not wrong either. You just didn't word it very clearly.
I'm honestly not an expert on selling your car. But you would probably price depreciation, ARF rebate (55% at 8+yrs) and COE balance (depreciated after 8yrs). So ((50k/10) x 2)) is what you're probably looking to recover (COE portion) in the pricing of the car.
Some other expert can probably offer more value. :oops:starlight1968sg:
Oh then my understanding on coe is incorrect, pardon me and pls ignore my earlier post
Suppose my coe is 50k and at the 8th year, I sell it. How much would I get back from the unused coe? -
RE: How much is enough for retirement in Singapore?
If I struck tomorrow’s Toto and got 2.2 million before taxes, is it enough for retirement?
