Will u all accompany ur kid to collect his/her result or wait at home? I am still wondering whether to follow or not.. :?

This is probably the only time parents will and can go....the kids will not want parents to be there at O and A levels results release dates. šŸ™‚

Lol, my hubby was telling me not to go..he said later my gal will feel embarass in front of her friends..but from the responses, i think most parents will tag along so she wont be the odd one out... i will definitely be there to \"cheer for her\" :xedfingers: good luck to all

On a side note, how will the results be given to the child? Is it still must tear the proforated slip or results (i.e grade and t-score) straightaway can see from the certificate? Does the school alteady have 1st hand news on the results b4 11am tomorrow?? Boy i am getting nervous now already... :imdrowning:

    • RE: Factors to consider when choosing sec school

i zoomed into the subjects offered by the 6 Sec sch of my child's choices..

i was overwhelmed by the differences in the subjects offered....just humanities alone comfused me, 3 different schools offered 3 different combination..

      school 1
      HUMANITIES (S,G)
      COMBINED HUMANITIES (S,H)

      school 2
      HUMANITIES (S,G)
      COMBINED HUMANITIES (S,H)
      COMBINED HUMANITIES (S,L)
      COMBINED HUMANITIES (SS,LC)

      school 3
      HUMANITIES (SS, GEOGRAPHY)
      HUMANITIES (SS, HISTORY)
      HUMANITIES (SS, LIT IN ENGLISH)

It is difficult for me to guage my child's inclination towards which area at this early stage so on the safe side i should choose the school that offers the most flexibility in the subject combi? Like the above, school 3 seems to be more flexible compared to school 1. What do u guys think? then there are schools that offers principles of accounts, HIgher Music, AEP Art etc but some doesnt...wow...totally :scared:

    • RE: Factors to consider when choosing sec school

Hi to all..wld appreciate anyone cld share some tips with me on the follwing:

      COP

is it safe to conclude that if my child's psle score is equals or higher than the MEDIAN COP of the sec sch's 2016 PSLE Median Aggregate (as published on the handbook , also extracted from MOE SIS website); she is safe to include that school as 1 of her 6 choices?

      eg. XXX Sec schoo
      Lower 233
      Upper 258
      Median 237
Child score 233 and below, worth trying? or don't waste a choice, try another sch..
      237 - 258 can get in?

my question is what if this yr batch all do particularly well or bad? then we cannot rely on this stats right?

      Sec 3 electives

do u look at the sec 3 electives the secondary school provide when you choose the secondary school for your child? or most secondary have the same electives?

      eg. XXX Sec School
      SCIENCE (CHEM, BIO)
      SCIENCE (PHY, CHEM)

      the other YYY Sec School
      SCIENCE (CHEM, BIO)
      SCIENCE (PHY, BIO)
      SCIENCE (PHY, CHEM)
from the above, i think YYY Sec School more flexible combi to choose...what are your views?

      thks in advance

Hi, has anyone of you bought the chinese oral pack by E-Com Education?

      http://www.etutorbook.com/eoral/

understand the new PSLE oral format for CL will affect those taking 2017 PSLE (i.e. those born in year 2005) so if you have bought it for your child, can share whether it is worth buying? or any other recommendations for chinese oral besides this one? TIA

      snowcloud:

      Hi there,

may I know if your child is doing PSLE this year? do you have younger kid who can use this materials later ?
this is based on 2017 new oral format which require student to view video instead of still pic. if your child is taking 2016 PSLE oral, his/her oral still follows old format. as such, you might want to consider buying from some parents who have old oral books for home practice. most important is to use them as reference for your child on various topics to be tested. let him/her familiar with useful terms and phrases to help in expressing his/her thoughts.

      hope this info helps šŸ™‚
      hi Snowcloud,
thanks a lot for the clarification! i was rather confused over the cut off date on the change of PSLE CL oral format. Noted now that the current batch (PSLE in 2016) will not be affected and the new format only start in year 2017. My eldest taking PSLE in 2017 so she will be affected, need to get input about this product before buying...it's okay i will check other forums for feedback..
