Yes, watched 网中人 and 亲情 on SBC channels then.... but I remember 京华春梦 and 上海滩 were not aired on local channels and my home don't have a VCR back then... so I only manage to catch it a few years later when my dad bought our first VCR.

Do you all remember the tv drama - Men in the Net - by Chow Yuen Fatt n Carol Cheng?

I remembered this drama took everyone by storm such that everyone stays in on Sunday nites just to catch this serial.

That was one of few that made Chow Yuen Fatt famous. Other than 网中人,still got 亲情,上海滩,etc….

replaced 郑少秋 as the most-recognisable HK actor then...

I remember Fitzpatrick supermarket too... I stay opposite Queensway shopping center and there was one Fitzpatrick supermarket in Queensway shopping center (around late 70s or early 80s) .

      Never heard of Bibi&Baba

I don't quite remember...PS was opened in 1974...only remember the anpan bread which my dad was nuts over. we were at PS often because there were not many malls in the 80s...I remember Fitzpatrick supermarket very well...because I pushed the trolley into some wine bottles there and got away...the manager (angmoh guy) said the display was too dangerous.

Maybe they can help by making Yaw case as a case study on how to handle \"unusal\" Extra-marital affairs... I have many friends (including my boss) in this position ..although have not reach the \"guru\" level of having a Married mistress...

Talk is easy lahh... you think private life dun wan to be public then dun wan 2 be public meh ?? Blame themselves then... if you are a Co*ck itchy person, dun be a politician... you chose this path, and want to only keep the \"Juicy part\" private ? .. is that possible ? You can say he is not accountable to us.. I agree.. but he is indirectly representing the people.. frankly speaking..this is not small thing...Make other PPl's wife pregnant.. Not just simply having an affair thats all, and he's our Beloved Hammer Head WP key member...

      winchester:
what matter is not whether ysl had an affair or not, but how he is handling the pr crisis now. by not commenting, many would think that he is guilty.

some people think politicians should be saints and private-political life is the same. others think not.

      Well said...

We \"shouldn't\" care even if YSL made LTK's wife pregnant or Orgy with his other WP party members... after all, they are the same \"WP family\" ..

dun care about other ppl \"close door family business lahh\"..

But hey, maybe we should make use of this issue and have an Ads campaign for Safe Sex .. if YSL really made someone Preg..
haha... with YSL face on it saying \"Dun Be Like Me... use the Cap \" :rotflmao:

      Mdm Koh:

You are a staunch WP supporter? Here's a tip for you. Demand accountability and transparency from the leadership. Don't sit back and allow them to abuse you with their cynicism. Be critical, don't close ranks reflexly. Mr LTK is a streetfighter, his instinct is to close ranks, it is the wrong tactic as the party grows and takes on more expectations. They don't need to just keep YOUR support, to grow, they need to win over many many others, which are not going to cut them the same slack you do.

I am not a staunch supporter but I have a few words about accountability and transparency. If the matters involve a politician's work as an MP or if anyone in a political party is suspected of corruption (like those two guys who were recently suspended), of course, the people involved should be accountable and transparent.

Should politicians be accountable to us for their private affairs? That's a grey area. :scratchhead:

To the best of my knowledge, Singapore doesn't have any examples of politicians who were forced to be explicit in confessing their personal affairs in public. No one forced Minister Shanmugam to be transparent about his rumoured mistress. Neither had anyone told Goh Keng Swee to be accountable to us about what transpired between him and his wife that led to their divorce. :lightrod:

And I believe no one would ask PM Lee Hsien Loong to be transparent and give us an open account of how his wife got a heart attack at such a young age.

I think the private affairs of politicians should remain private, unless they have broken the law.

If voters are unhappy with a politician and think that having affairs speaks poorly of his character, they can vote for someone else at the next GE. But to demand that he accounts to us for his private life may be asking too much of him.

ya la...its that ex veteran WP guy who's not happy LTK gave so much opportunity to Yaw lahh.. if you remember who..
Until SPH is going to run a story on this affair (there is no reason why they wouldn't, if it is true, since it is from the Opp camp)..

there is no reason to believe there is any truth in it.. no credible sources, no pictures, no evidence, no proof.. just someone say only.. And the person who provided the story didn't even have the honor or gut to say the full name.. just saying some Mr Yxx from some Opp party or something to that effect..

I have deliberately avoided posting in this thread until now, but this has got to take the cake.

If there is nothing here, why have LTK and YSL not CATEGORICALLY stated that circulating rumours are UNtrue? They have no sense of the damage that is being done to their image, that all they can come up with is the limp \"we do not comment on rumours\"?

Even ST came out to say that their staff was not involved.

What pictures do you need as proof? Some IR image of the two protagonists on a romp in bed?

      Gimme a break.

What they are hoping for, by lying low, is for die-hard supporters to slowly start to rationalise to themselves that this is all a PAP conspiracy, and that there is malicious reporting by the press, and it is all falsehood.

They did not say it was falsehood. They are hoping that their supporters will form that impression in their mind, as you apparently already have.

I heard that everyone in the party has been barred from commenting. The decision came down from the party leadership and it's not because the members involved did not dare to face up to the rumours.

As for why they have been barred from commenting, it's anyone guess. But it appears that the conspiracy has nothing to do with the PAP. Someone is just out to ruin Yaw Shin Leong.
