daddy2007:
What time does your DD board the school bus in the morning?Allanice:
I'm staying at Woodlands. Dd is p2 this year. My girl enjoys school very much.as for traveling journey wise- we are kinda used to it. The traffic is normally smooth early morning . Dd is very happy studying there. The girls are quite well- behave as far as I know.
Will the school bus operator arranges such that each student's travelling will be at most 1 hour?
For my case, the school bus operator doesn't come to woodlands area ( coz I thk the demand is low) . However , there is a 4:30pm bus to fetch the students back from school to woodlands .
DH or myself send DD to & back fr school daily . We step out about 6:35am )reach school about 7:05am. If start journey at 6:40 (latest), normally reach school ard 7:15am-7:20am. -

Innova has received at least 92 applicants which is SC within 1 km
Hihi!
92 are all sc within 1km? I jz called the school the staff told me the 92 are total application . She won't be able to know many are within 1 km until the last day of registration .
Anyone has more information on this? If really all 92 are sc within 1 km then that's very worrying! -

Hi Klairity,hi all, im new here and am glad to see good reviews on SMPS. i'm intending to send my girl back to my alma mater so here i am... trying to read up more to keep myself abreast of the on-goings.
May I know if any mummies here send their gers to SMPS even though they live more than 10kms away? and y? Trying to convince myself that the sch is not too far away for us, living ard 15km away from the sch.

hi Hi.Thanks Allanice. I'm glad to hear that the after school care is good. I intend to register her for the after school care as we are both working it is difficult to go through her homework and revise her spelling or tingxie.
Is your girl on the school bus as well? Able to share how much you pay, what time is pick up and drop off. I know it depends on distance, i just want to get an idea.
remington and foreverj, my dd also starting P1 next year.
Haven't been logging into KSP lately....
My girl doesn't take school bus coz we send her to school everyday. I'm sure you will be able to find out from the transport com (RS ) on the transport service. I thk some parents there had provided the contact no.
I'm sure you and dd muz be looking forward for the upcoming orientation
I was like you before. Meanwhile, enjoy her preschool life , coz she's going to promote into another stage of learning journey soon :rahrah:

Hi i registered my girl for next yr p1 under phase 2b. Hav plans to check out e student care centre. Any other parents planning e same? Appreciate any exitg parents with daughters in e student care to comment on quality of care n overall envt, tks n God bless

Hi hi,
DD is p1 and currently in YMCA .So far she really enjoys spending time with her friends and teacher there. Her teacher is very caring and motherly
DD will have their lunch there and take their shower after that. They are allowed to take a a short nap (about 1hr) if they want to. DD sometimes chose not to nap coz she was not tired.
The teacher supervise their school homework. They will also let them do assessment books when the girls finished their homeworks. They will let them practice their spellings and tingxie also. Sometimes I will will ask DD if she needs me to let her practice her spelling /tingxie but she always says no need coz they practiced in YMCA oredy. It really lessen my burden as I get to spend time with her after I fetch her back from YMCA coz all homeworks were already done by then.
So far, her experience in YMCA has been a positive one

RE: How to teach children to handle bullies
Anon:
This reminds me of my primary school days..... I was also bullied in the school bus beforeI am a believer that we should teach our kids how to hold their own from a young age. I always tell my daughters that they are born bold to manage the numerous challenges in life. Bullies only have power over them if they allow them. If you parents intervene directly, the bullies and peers will lose respect for your children.
For my girls, I teach them to avoid/resolve conflict whenever possible, retort with wit and retaliate with physical manoeuvres which do not harm the other. E.g. staying away from the bullies, not showing any fear when encountered, standing up to them with comebacks if confronted and neutralizing physical attacks by deflection or jamming.
It's a great opportunity for them to develop EQ and character in the face of adversity. My P1 daughter was emotionally-bullied by P2 girls while on the school bus for the last 3 weeks. It ranged from unfairly claiming her seat, constant ly mocking her name and deceiving her into moving a seat back on the pretext of sitting together. It was a baptism of fire but she bravely stood up to the bullies. Not only did she make them looked like lousy bullies, she gained newfound respect among her peers and of herself. Well, I couldn't be any prouder for her.
