I had the first reunion with my primary school classmates a few years ago. This was our first reunion after 3 decades. Interestingly, the first thing we did was to compare our PSLE results and which schools we went after the primary school (followed by whom we had crushed on then LOL) . The conclusion is the top 2 PSLE scorers are not the top two earners today, if earning power is one measure for comparison.

RE: 2017 PSLE Discussions and Strategies
ELLYS:
I'd also like to ask experienced parents, is the allocation process controlled by MOE or the respective secondary schools? I heard the school principal say that if you're coming from an affiliated primary school but do not place the affiliated secondary school as FIRST CHOICE, you will definitely not get a place in that school regardless how high your score is. Meaning to say for example if aggregate score was 260 and I choose another school as first choice, and place my affiliated secondary school which has a cut-off point of only 240 as second choice, if I don't make it to my first choice school, I will also lose out to another candidate with lower score than me just because the other candidate put the affiliated school as first choice and I didn't - is this true or is the school principal just trying to scare us into putting the school as first choice to boost the take-up rate? Is the allocation totally by merit or by order of preference of choice position? If my score is 260, will even my 6th choice take priority over another person's first choice who has a score of a lower 250? Really appreciate any guidance!
The allocation process is controlled by MOE. If there is an affiliated primary school, then all the affiliated students that meet the affiliated cut off point will enter the affiliated sec school first before the remaining vacancies go to the others. If your child has 260 but does not choose the affiliated sec school as first choice, then your child will be classified as others and competing for the affiliated sec school with the others. The affiliated students with tscore lower than 260 will enter first. Some schools may not have any vacancy for others after taking in all the affiliated students. -

Heard 262 awarded ESIS. Anyone with 261 or 260 awarded ESIS? It would be a good gauge in whether the COP for top schools will go up or down, or remain the same?
Anyone has last year cut off for EESIS and third lang like German, Japanese, French etc? Thanks. -

Some schools will even list the names of students scoring above a certain T-score! Imagine you are sitting there and your name is not on that list.
I believe the sch already have the results. Usually the principal will present the result in slides to parents in hall if I am not wrong. Like what is the passing % kind. If they didn't get it earlier, how will they be able to prepare for the slides. -

Will u all accompany ur kid to collect his/her result or wait at home? I am still wondering whether to follow or not.. :?
This is probably the only time parents will and can go....the kids will not want parents to be there at O and A levels results release dates.

Not sure. No official announcement yet.
Mr Chan Poh Meng has just written to parents too.jtoh:
I heard Mr Chan Poh Meng is retiring and will be replaced by Mr Frederick Yeo, Principal of Crest Secondary School. Mr Yeo was previously RI Vice Principal about 10 years ago.
Is Mr Chan retiring due to health reasons? -
RE: Are Singapore students too stressed out?
Cloud Cloud:
That's right. No one also asks you about your A levels results in the uni....and no employers look at uni results after the first job.
Of course, could be other reasons. Just that there have been a few cases of students suicide. When my dd received her PSLE results last year, saw one boy crying badly. According to her, no one asks about your PSLE results in Sec.
