I just heard that Bishan may be the holding site for SJI in 2014-2015. Anyone heard this news? I called school yesterday but they did not provide any information. As a result, I have chosen VS over SJI.


Please help. If the holding site is in Bishan, I may reconsider our selection.

SJI is still in discussion with MOE on the schedule for moving into the holding site. SJI will be most likely be at the holding site from 2014 to 2015.

Any idea why SJI drop from Band 1 to Band 2 in 2010?

Spent 1 hr talking to DS. He is still deciding between SJI and VS. Anyone can provide the pros and cons between 2 schools (other than distance).

The COP for SJI (affiliated) has been raised to 240. This was communicated to the affiliated schools in 3Qtr this yr.

Another question - what is the acceptable travelling time for secondary students? Is an hour considered too long?

An hour one way? Considering that on some days school might end at 6pm because of CCA or projects etc, your kid will only reach home at 7pm. Factor in dinner, shower, time to catch his breath... it'll be 8 or 9pm. Not much time left for homework.

The kid would also have to wake up rather early to be in school by 7-ish.

:heresmyfish: Thanks. DS was considering between VSIP and SJI. We are closer to SJI (maybe 45mins). As his score is 251, he wants to give it a shot. He is not sure whether to put VS (A levels) or SJI as this second choice. Pls give us some advice.
