I started with milk cereal at 5th month, then added carrot/pumpkin/sweet potato puree. Subsequently introduce fruits like apples, pear and banana. porridge was introduced at 6th month together with veg eg spinach and green peas. Delayed broccoli as it seems to give her gas (reintroduced recently and she is ok).I started giving baby meat from 7th month. So far only chicken, pork n beef. Tried cod fish when she turned 8 months but she rejected it, suspect it's the fishy smell. Will try again next month.

My girl is also an erratic milk drinker, had been on milk strike several times. Got better after switched from Nan HA to Nan Pro which I think is nicer tasting. But still doesn't finish bottle often esp when teething. Since she is above the 90th percentile since birth, I am not worried 😄
my boi is underweight... so much tat i'm so worried.. when u say milk strike what u mean? doesn't drink milk at all or lesser intake? how do ur know that your bb is teething?

      Hi angelmh,

My 9 mth old is quite erratic in his milk intake after being introduced to solids. Most days he drinks about 400 to 450 ml. Sometimes more. My elder one was also like that. My take is to use your mother's instinct. If your kid is thriving well, then you can supplement calcium with yogurt or tofu. That's what I did/am doing.

It could also be a phase that the child is going through.

      My 2 cents 😄
my boi intake is even lesser than tat.. recently onli drink 300ml the whole day.. but i gave him prunes and cerals.. not sure what is wrong with him, yoghurt? u mean those can b bought from supermarket? is it a bit too young to be giving them?

northernstar > cut down milk meaning he doesn't like to drink milk.. milk intake reduces.. the other time, the teacher feed him milk he doesn't even want so the teacher no choice give him rice cerals and he finish up the whole thing.. don't know is good or bad.. PD say he's suppose to b drinking 900ml a day but he's drinking less than 800ml a day.. some time even less than 700ml..

When i make him drink, he will cry n scream n keep throwing the bottle away..

is it because he is not suitable to drink milk? some babies drink soya bean. did u give him breastmilk b4? i think its not good to just give him rice cereals only as he will feel so full the whole day.

Soya bean? i tried giving him soya b4 but sometimes he reject sometimes he drink.. Rice cerals only twice a day den abt 30mins to an hr i will try to give him milk, sometimes he finsih 180 sometimes he drink 100ml. Breastmilk? yup.. but now bcos i only pump once a day so supply not gd and also i plan to stop soon.

      hi northern star,

      yes, he's a Sep baby.. 😉

i'm trying to start him off with solids but its so hard bcos he's in ifc and by the time i'm home its already so late..

      hi angelmh,

i'm also a working mom and my DD is given to a nanny to look after when i go work. therefore, i only feed her organic rice cereal and mix with fruits or veg on weekends. during weekdays, e nanny will give her other rice cereal with her milk.

you hire a nanny? but is there anyone at home watching after the nanny? what kind of veg u give?

      hi angelmh,

      welcome here!

now your DS needs more nutrients, as he is turning 6 mths, especially more iron as ur BM is not enough to provide it.

you can refer to the links me and Trina had given here for more baby food recipes.

so you also gave birth to your DS last Sept? 😄 😄[/quote]

You can add puree in his cereal. Just steam the food and blend it until very smooth before adding onto cereal. I have tried carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato, apple, pear... I use the Avent food processor which comes with instructions and just have to use one appliance to steam and blend. Usually I prepare over the weekend and store them in baby cubes (check out babyonline.com).

Since you are concern about his size, perhaps can increase feeding him solids? A friend of mine has successfully beef up her boy by giving him solids (including fruits and veg) 5 times a day. You may also consider giving him porridge at 7 months onwards. My 7.5 month old girl takes cereal for lunch and porridge at dinner. She weighed 8.3kg at 6 months and 8.9kg at 7 months so I am not going to increase her solid intake although she burns a lot of calories with her crawling, crimbing and cruising :0

      hihi trina,

is it ok if i introduce him to so many kinds of food in a go? eg, cerals in the noon, fruits in the ceral at night? i'm just worried about allergies.. because now, he only take 1 spoon of ceral as i'm just starting him off with solids.
