My son got the letter today as well. We were quite surprised as we were not preparing him. Was actually busy with the older ones P6.
Is there anything we can do prepare him now for the second phase? Would appreciate any suggestions. He reads widely anyways - but any titles we can get for him to read?

For math, any math olympaid books to recommend?

The children best in English in my child’s school are debating not only over this question, but others too. Even I find it difficult. So you’re in good company! DD marks was average in P4, so she was allocated to the 'normal class'.
they have total 6 classes. 2 which is considered the top class, another 3 is the normal, and last class is for those taking 3 or more foundation subjects.
her school is weird. the 2 top classes has their own Maths, MTL teachers who is mainly the HODs.
and among the students in the 3 'normal' classes, they will split students to go into 3 different Maths and MTL class based on their P5 results. they address this as the 'best' Maths and MTL class among the 'normal class' (or 3rd class out of 6). DD was allocated to this Maths and MTL class. the passing rate of all subjects in the top 2 classes is usually higher than the normal classes. and happen that her so-called BFFs, all did better in SA1 as compared to DDs, so they will actually upset when they realised DD did well for prelims as compared to them.

she has encountered her own failure in CA1, and i can see that she is very upset. so she works extra hard for SA1 and this prelim. she has never get such marks since P5. i thot it will actually boost her confident. who knows, her friends who she treat as BFFs, treat her that way.

Most importantly she cannot allow such ‘friends’ to affect her feelings. Years ago, Friend’s then P6 daughter was similarly affected and scored not as well at psle, whereas the ‘friend’ who scored worse at prelims sailed passed friend’s daughter at psle.

It doesn't matter why some schools release the result of DSA earlier, and some later. Ultimately, there's nothing you can do between now and October 2019.

Ok, maybe a couple more extra days you can haolian or show off on social media and on KSP, or goad others at their misfortune of not receiving any... but other than that... zilch. Life goes on.

Parent2008, by any chance you have triplets? Cos a combo of four girls schools and one boys school indicates a larger than normal number of progeny within same year

Hubby was in HK yesterday. Lots of people wearing black tees at Central station in the evening presumably heading towards Victoria Park. Today he still managed to enjoy some dim sum and some australia dairy company makan. ADC still crowded. Life seems back to normal. Wouldn’t have known there had been so many demonstrations if it weren’t for the news and online livestreams. Perhaps protestors tired out from yesterday? Relatives there also haven’t called us in Sg for help on any issue. So surreal.
