Yes, I also felt that the event was well planned and the signs were clearly displayed. I like that the older girls were there to help out , from the hosting right down to selling of school books and uniforms. I thought the complimentary shuttle service was considerate.

My gal was posted to KC and she is not from KC primary thus a bit worried about her settling in as I understand that the IJ spirit quite strong. Attended the reporting day yesterday and she seems fine with the school though.

My gal scored about 70 for NC and 49 for HCL and thus she does not meet the criteria to continue with HCL for her school. The irony is that when I asked my daughter if she finds HCL a struggle or tough, she said no and instead she just wanted to drop the subject because it is boring. Her chinese writing teacher actually encouraged her to continue as her standard is not too bad.


While i am pretty reluctant to let her drop, for the sake of next year PSLE, think it would be a better option than to continue with the additional subject.

Hi I've also a goatie doing PSLE next yr. She's weak in all subjects, in the 50s - 70s range. The prob is she is not kan cheong at all. When she doesn't know how to solve a maths qn, she goes to her bed and sleep. When I force her to do some revision, she goes to her bed and sleep. When I scold her, she also go and sleep. And it is v difficult to wake her up. She LOVES to sleep! Going by the past two yrs easy PSLE papers, I'm just praying it will still be easy when it is her turn next yr. That's the only way she can get into express stream!

mine too actually. Mine doesn't sleep. Mine just look at me with glazed eyes. and seriously, i hate to mark assessment books or go through them after a long day at work because it is like I am back to school days again. I would much rather bring them out and play then to look at the questions. Don't know who is the one studying actually. Having said that, kids nowadays have a tough life. I would probably fail the subjects if I were to take them again.

I often think that parents are the ones who are stressed out and anxious, much more than the children. while I know that there is more to life than exams, and PSLE is only a part, the education system makes it difficult for me to fully let go.

Got back gal's results for three papers. Failed maths again. this despite twice a week tuition and massive drop for Eng and Chse. Sigh! :sad:


The problem is lack of urgency and motivation. Scolding, nagging and even rewards do not seem to work anymore. and worse, when she does not seem to be scared of failing, or at least I do not see her panicking. I always feel that unless the child is inherently motivated to perform well, it is difficult to pull the results up.

Now horribly worried for her psle next year.....

Just realised that there is this thread about PSLE for children in 2015 : ) Glad to have found it as my gal will be taking PSLE next year.


Currently she is very weak in maths and her tutor has just resigned. I have found a replacement but decided to add in science tuition as well, since I do not see her revising/reading/touching her science books. Frankly, her school schedule is so packed during school week that often I am at a dilemma to divide her tuition on weekdays or weekends. I try my hard to keep both weekends free for my kids to play, refresh and rejuvenate. Being a ftwm, I find it very difficult to keep track of their school activities, homework and other stuff that they need to do. the good thing is I have my parents to assist so I am really grateful and blessed in this aspect.

Hoping I will not turn into a frantic and desperate mummy by the time PSLE hits.
