Hi, anyone received NYGH Bilingual domain interview letter yet? My DD's status is still 'pending'. Is it true that if no email by this week, most likely rejected? πŸ™
Hi, just wondering if anyone else's DD who has attended the RGS interview on Tuesday/Wednesday, received an email on hdp this Saturday

      You did?

No news from my side yet since the interview.
Same here, no news since the interview earlier this week. DD has a few friends who have not been asked to attend the interviews but have been invited to the HDP this Sat. I dunno what to make of this.

Anyone has good Chinese tutors (pref. school teacher or ex-school teacher) to recommend? My son has real difficulty with Chinese and even though he’s in P1 only, he’s struggling with Hanyu Pinyin and character recognition.

      Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find the list of CCAs which KHS offers? If keen to prep my kids for DSA, which are the CCAs to consider? Tks.

Pirahna, if your DD is the 4th to disembark, then by right she should be one one of the later ones to get on the bus. Then why still have to board the bus at 520am? Poor girl...does she get enough sleep? 😞

Shawny17, yup, I was from SCGS, full 10 years there πŸ™‚

Arielyn, same here. 10 years in sc. Had 2 sisters who also went to same school. Lots of fond memories of the old school campus at Emerald. Met up with many old school friends after dd starting going to SCGS.

When dd2 also starts going to SCGS, may consider ferrying both to/back from school.

Shawny, you're a SAHM? Yup, it would definitely save your DDs a lot of time, not to mention the closer bonding forged driving them to and fro. Lucky kids! I was also from the Emerald Hill batch, never had a chance to be at the new campus. I only remembered Ms. Heng and the coutless donation drives she spearheded, so it was just give, give, give, but never had the opportunity to study at the new premises. But just as well, the old campus @ Emerald Hill held many fond memories for me πŸ™‚

Good thing is that she sleeps at 9pm daily. If she is tired, she can sleep in the afternoon when she is back. But she seldom sleeps in the afternoon. Luckily we started the sleep routine before she went to P1. Now even on weekends, she wake up at 7.30 to 8am.

Pirahna, are you a SAHM? Pardon my asking, cos I was thinking that if you're a FTWM, you would hardly have enough time to go through your DD's homework before tucking her into bed at 9pm. As it is, my elder twins are in K1, but becos of the K1 h/w and the h/w from their enrichment classes, I usually coach them from 830-1030pm before they go off to bed. Thankfully, they're still in K1 and in the P.M session. I dread to think how I could possibly go thru their h/w when they're in P1 and have to go to bed by 930-10pm. SIgh! 😞

My DD wakes up at 5am and the school bus picks her up at 5.20am. Staying at Bedok. For the return leg, she is now the 4th to reach home. Travel time about 30 - 45 mins.

      Hi,

Waking up at 5am is really early 😞 What time does your girl sleep everyday to be able to wake up at 5am? Guess she also takes a nap in the afternoon once back from school?

Mine will need to wake up at 5.30am and I am already wondering why so early…:(

And I tawt that it was bad enough when eons back, I took the SBS bus from home to SCGS at the unearthly hour of 615am! 520am! Give your DD a hug for me! πŸ™‚ But seriously, does it affect her productivity?

HI Shawny, I stay in Katong too. WHat time does your DD board the school bus? I was told by the bus operator that my DD (she’s in K1 now) would need to board the bus by 6am to make it to school by 715am. And you were saying that hte return trip takes about an hour?

Thanks, Floyap for your advice. Yes, ultimately, the biggest challenge is distance. The elitist backdrop, oh well, I guess it's inherent in most schools along the Bkt Timah belt, esp. the boys' and girls' schools (think ACS, MGS, etc). There are still 8-9 months to go before the next P1 reg. and tho' the odds are stacked against SCGS for now, God may send me a sign or two to make me change my mind again. πŸ™‚

DAdsForever, I'm glad that your DD enjoys studying in SCGS :). I too, enjoyed my SCGS days as the benefits did outwigh the cons ultimately. Till today, I'm still close to my ex-SCGS classmates, be they from the rich or-not-so-rich backgrounds but certainly those imbibed with the right values.
