My girl, like shawny17’s is in P3. She didn’t have official CA1, SA1 & CA2 - just test around that time. The girls do not go up to Pri 2 as a class, they are mixed with students from other classes. But they were not grouped according to P1 SA2 results. This is so that the girls get to know other students. There is banding at P2 & P4, ie. the girls in P3 & P5 are grouped according to their P2 & P4 results. But the school may change the system again.

Thanks, Floyap for your advice. Yes, ultimately, the biggest challenge is distance. The elitist backdrop, oh well, I guess it's inherent in most schools along the Bkt Timah belt, esp. the boys' and girls' schools (think ACS, MGS, etc). There are still 8-9 months to go before the next P1 reg. and tho' the odds are stacked against SCGS for now, God may send me a sign or two to make me change my mind again. 🙂

DAdsForever, I'm glad that your DD enjoys studying in SCGS :). I too, enjoyed my SCGS days as the benefits did outwigh the cons ultimately. Till today, I'm still close to my ex-SCGS classmates, be they from the rich or-not-so-rich backgrounds but certainly those imbibed with the right values.

HI Shawny, I stay in Katong too. WHat time does your DD board the school bus? I was told by the bus operator that my DD (she’s in K1 now) would need to board the bus by 6am to make it to school by 715am. And you were saying that hte return trip takes about an hour?

                Hi all

I’m from SCGS Secondary but not primary.
Wondering what’s the best way to secure my DD’s entry into SCGS?

                Thanks

Hi Arielyn, dd1 boards schoolbus at 6.05-6.10am. Yes return leg takes around 50mins to 1hr. Depends on which part of Katong you stay too. I happen to be on the later leg which means they alight the girls at the side nearer to Lasalle and the various roads around it like Bournemouth, Wilkinson and work downwards to Tg Katong where I am. However I do know that there are 2 Katong bus services as another service also plies the Marine Parade portion. (mine doesn't)

Btw, I have a K1 dd too! I know another 2-3 gals heading to SCGS in 2013. Are you an old girl too?

Dimension, SCGS is full-school status so it doesn't matter if you are from SCGS Sec, your dd still qualifies under old girl phase.

                    HTHs..

                      Hi Shawny!

Thanks so much for the info.
I happened to find the same info in the earlier threads.
But thanks for the confirmation 🙂

I think as as old girl from SCGS (even from the Sec School), you can be eligible for 2A(2). Can't find the website saying this but I read about it sometime last year.
