So shocking for me to read this. Not blaming anyone, but given the prevalence of asthma among today's kids, I think they should introduce regulations that have emergency equipment on standby. Sometimes things can happen very fast and many things can go wrong when there is panic.

      Condolences to the family. ๐Ÿ˜ž

(ps: parents with asthmatic kids, do make sure they bring their inhalers and that the teachers are informed. I am not sure how much help this will be in a very severe attack, but every little bit may make a difference or buy an extra minute.)
I totally agreed that schools should have some kind of equipment for the asthma kids. Emergency situation can be avoid with asthma monitoring device in schools.

X-halo is able to provide โ€˜early warningโ€™ to asthma attack. It is a device for measuring airway inflammation. Airway inflammation usually precedes asthma attacks.

Primary kids or even youth are so busy in school that they may not recognize their asthma symptoms in time. Either thinking the symptoms will go away or they can wait until the end of the day. Delays in asthma treatment can lead to death. Daily monitoring will prevent such unfortunate incident from happening in school.

Asthma students with slight respiratory symptoms should take their airway inflammation measurement in school office. The airway inflammation result with their respiratory symptoms should be sufficient information for the student to refrain from physical activities. Parents should be informed and they should use their inhaler instead of ignoring their symptoms.

      buds:
Yes, ladies.. Later is totally fine by me. Especially since I was considered super late even in my days. We do all we can and the other only thing we can do is HOPE. DD1 is already almost as tall as I am. Size wise she is bigger than me. She's my baby that started out with all the allergies, sensitivities, lower immunity and what have yous- a sick chicken; in short. She still suffers mildly from a host of things around her but manageable. She falls sick less often as she got older, begun swimming and slowly I moved her on to other sports. She's off the asthma meds and even the preventor. Like hubs, she also now only requires antihistamines and inhaler for emergency episodes.

      Hi Buds

Great to hear that your child is off asthma medication. However, since she still needs inhaler for emergency episodes (ventolin?), it means she still suffers from asthma attacks. Do monitor her airway inflammation closely. Airway inflammation usually precedes asthma attacks. If airway is inflamed/ swollen, it may mean asthma is not well controlled and she may starts experiencing asthma symptoms (like difficulty in breathing/ wheezing). Take care!

      hihi,

thank you for all mommies's concern on my DD's health, i think i don't need to visit her school today as she has become better, less coughing now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

actually i did try many methods to cure her asthma or boost up her immune system and now making cordyceps soup for her, sigh..damn exp  and i've also gone for a talk about asthma that actually there is currently no cure for asthma, you may have less or no asthma attack when u grow older and this will depend on your health condition too, that means younger child and elderly will have more frequently attack in general. well, actually my DD's health is much better now, she used to be admitted twice at the age of 13 months and 3 yrs old, she was sick every alternative week in N1 that i couldn't stand it and completely dropped her out from school, sigh..those were the days...just hope that she will become better from time to time when she grows up.. ๐Ÿ™

      Hi lvkt,

Great to hear that your DD has recovered from her cough. Must be a relief for you. Seems like her asthma was quite bad when she was young. Ya, I've heard other parents mention that some kids do 'recover' from asthma as they grow up. Let's hope your DD is one of them. ๐Ÿ™

      Hi Ivkt
Monitoring your child's airway inflammation could prevent frequent attacks. Airway inflammation usually precedes asthma attack. Any asthma attacks is potentially fatal for the child if not discovered early and medication administered in time. Avoid these emergencies!

      Yup.

I've had 3 asthma attacks in two days.
      Not funny.

Cannot go swimming with DD also ๐Ÿ˜ž
Monitor airway inflammation closely during haze season. Airway inflammation usually precedes asthma attack. If airway inflamed/ swollen, you may need to restart/step up your medication according to your asthma action plan or see doctor for advise.
