Thanks for the info. I really love the design of those Japanese school bags but not sure if anyone has used it or know where to get one. They look like a box and surely papers won’t get squashed by soft fabric. I remember when I was a kid I really hated those soft nylon material bags cos all my artwork and paper were ruined lol

RE: Stationery and School bags
I don’t know if this is the right place to post -
for P1 - 2, what’s the typical weight of school bags and is there a ‘safety recommended weight’ for the kids?
I’m not sure what’s considered normal - but I see some kids staying nearby attending a SAP primary school always have their elders and maids to carry their bags and they look super bulky 0.o.
I want to ensure my kid carries my bag afterall should be her responsibility -
RE: Marymount Convent
Does the school provide lockers for the kids? As my kid may have to walk I hope the bags won’t be super heavy. She’s quite small sized

Closer to orientation, the school will issue and notify the class and house and all the relevant documents for the school attire etc...
House is randomly allocated, I guess? -

Wow thanks that’s easier to navigate through the Website. There are quite a good P1 selections I think my girl will really be happy to see.
You can refer to this link for the CCA schedule. Some do starts from P1.Aurorasea:
Thanks! For CCAs, are some of them available for P1?
Cos my girl has lots of energy and already telling me that she wants to start ASAP but seems like they are only for p3. Are they strict or depends on the child? Thanks :please:

My friend says the gals do gym and dance during PE lesson. I guess this is how the teachers assess who has potential.
Those who are good, are given a invitation letter to join those CCA.
Not sure how strict they are for those without invitation letter.
My friend's gal did not sign up any CCA yet. -

I see. So do you recommend buying books / uniform before or after orientation?leongwt75:
The uniforms can get from the uniform shop (United Uniforms) at Lor 1 Toa Payoh #01 - 1034 earlier or later since got to see the size etc...books easier since they are already pre packed in a box but if you stay nearby, the book shop and uniform shop remains open on days in November and December...more importantly is to establish that chat group...hahaha
yah...typically i skip buying uniform and books during orientation. it's always very crowded.
my friend was telling me MC's parent support group is very strong.
Are we setting up 2019 chatgroup already? :imcool:
Will get busy near end of year .... :hi5: -

RE: Marymount Convent
I stay in Bishan. There is direct bus that stops right opposite MCS and DD needs to walk about 100-200m. Will have to leave school at 6:30. If by driving, is about 15-20 mins depending on traffic but there is usually a long car queue. Maybe easier to drop off further away and walk
