How will the student know?? SOTA gives them the letter immediately after JA or via school?
That's a good question. I always thought they would be told on the spot but as mentioned, my dd said no one in her JA class was told anything...which is quite hard to imagine coz none in a class of 20 were good enough? And besides, she knows that some were even CSTD summer school winners...surely they would be good enough to be called. :scratchhead:
if that's the case, hm maybe they stopped giving shortcuts then.
Does SOTA only select P6 potentials or they also interest in P5? Will they ask P5 to try TA when the students at P6?

If I'm not wrong, they mix P5 and P6 for JA and i have a P5 friend which was also selected to skip the audition next year but she needs to attend the JA again when she is P6 .
Not all ballet students get to go to JA because the schools need to recommend their students. For ballet students whose schools does not offer ballet as a CCA, they won't have a chance to go to JA.

I thought there is only one TA. Why is there a first and second auditions?

Actually, your primary school doesn't need to have a dance CCA to for them to recommend you. You can just tell them that you are auditioning in sota and they will keep note! There is one TA but since there are so many people auditioning, they did a pre-audition for dance students so that it would be easier to choose during the TA / lesser people in TA.

Just curious but how many kids do they select at JA for dance TA/ 2nd audition? My girl doesn't think anyone in her class got selected.
Uhmm.. If you went to JA, the number of people selected is not fixed. If they see you have potential, they will select you. But in my class, about 3 - 4 people got the shortcut to TA šŸ™‚

Following. My ds is in s1. He found the subject dry and boring, pulling resources to help him.

yes yes , that's a good way! If your child still thinks it's quite boring, maybe bring her/him out to the museum, that's what my sec school did and it was not boring at all since my friends were there and we learnt a lot too.
