Hi, may i know how the selection of trainee prefects at the end of P3 and P4 is done? Based on results, current leadership position, teacher recommendation, peer votings to go for selection interview? Thanks in advance!

Is your kid in primary or Secondary school ?

      1)

if your kid is in Secndary school, Sec 1 aged 13 and above, as they are already big in terms of age, Secondary schools won't inform neither kid nor the parents anything about Edusave award.

      However,
if your child feel that he (she) has done well, by looking at his own academic year end October / November Report card results, he can call up MOE customer service line directly, ask whether he (she) has received any Edusave award or not, at the cohort level.

      2)

if your kid is in Primary school, at year end Oct / Nov, there is an award ceremony for students who have done (performed) well in individual classes, and at the cohort level.

      Example

Your kid may go up the stage to receive the award for the

Most improved in subject (Maths / Science / English / Mother tongue), in his (her) entire cohort.

      So, you will know,
      because

your kid will come running home excitedly, to inform you that he (she) has won an award, and you (parent) will be invited by school to attend the award ceremony in the school hall.

Thanks for the details, sorry for replying late.
My child is P1 this year, so no academic based award ceremony.
I understand that the edusave awards for P1 and P2 are based on learning dispositions and conduct, as stated on MOE website and what I read from this forum. However, I heard from current teachers that they still base on those โ€œnon weightedโ€ tests to churn out the top 25%, so in the end it is still academics that is the main deciding factor, sort of contradicting the move away from academics at the lower primary level if so. Not sure which criteria holds true. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Is it a general practice for schools to pre-inform parents if your child is nominated or selected for any of the edusave award, or we just wait for the letter by post (if any that is) :p. TIA

      Hi parents

Any idea if there is streaming for P2 students as they move up to P3. If so, what criteria do they base on? TIA

      Parent of a gepper here.

Definitely surprised that NickleBee Tutors is not included in the list of GEP prep providers.

The principal is an ex-gepper. I was told that they have close to a 100% record of getting kids into the GEP.

Interestingly their GEP prep course is not advertised openly and interested parties must get a referral before going through an interview and selection test.

AFAIK, the NickleBee Tutors GEP prep course is conducted one-to-one by the principal. Rates are eye-popping and way out of my budget, so I signed up with Mind Stretcher instead.
Can I pm you please? Thanks

      For P1 and P2,
      because no exam,
hence, no standardized rules as to how schools give out award.

      Thus,
is best that u consult your kid's own primary school, can approach your kid school's (Principal or VP or class Form Teacher), this \" burning\" question.
I see.. thanks so much for the reply!
