I recall the principal alluded during the virtual open house sessions that almost all the applicants will be shortlisted for the e-quiz. The only exception would be if your math and science are barely pass grade.

At least that’s how I interpreted her words.

Not to diminish Mummykoh’s joy nor her child’s caliber, but just recalling this year’s guidelines.[/quote]
Think the Principal mentioned about 80% will be shortlisted

SST has sent out email to shortlisted candidates for their e-quiz on 29 June.

SST's usual policy is to invite everyone to take the test - so don't assume that you have been shortlisted 🙂

It’s stated on the email that “You have been shortlisted to sit for the Phase 1 E-Quiz......”

    • RE: Jiang Education Centre - Discussion

Hi, my P6 boy is with JEC and had attended their holiday program. I’m in no way related to this centre other then this.

My experience with this centre some what quite different.... the teacher in charge was always reachable and work was always promptly marked n returned within 24 hours if it was submitted via google classroom.

My only concern about this centre is not much focus on oral coaching😞

Hi , can someone share what are some centers that offer good intensive revision class in Sch holidays for PSLE students eg Sci intensive class , improve Oral / compo writing etc - any ?

when should the kid start ? june holidays
      Thank you all !
IMO for science, blue tree (ex moe tcrs) or pique lab (cci, masterclass program) is good. Check their website or call them for more info.

Again imo, should start almost immediately instead of June holidays. For my child’s school, SA1 will be assessed based on ALL topics/chapters for science n maths🤦🏻‍♀️.

I have the same questions - anyone find the revision programmes by tuition centres useful? Learning Lab runs intensive revision programmes for all the subjects but they are so expensive! Also i am trying to send DD (PSLE this yr) to compo writing classes. Any kind mummies want to share which is good in the east?

If yr child is in 2020 PSLE year and attending class with TLL, best u explore exit before May esp if u’ve done a GIRO der pymt scheme. GIRO takes a mth to notify cancellation & u’ve to give a month’s notice to TLL to terminate services before u can get a refund.

We had experienced having being forced to sign up for June intensive revision classes & it’s not cheap. They claimed its targeted at PSLE brush up & then during regular lesson time, teachers enticed my kid that they’ll be nice bento lunches provided. In the end, not only they claimed bento cldn’t get & bought junk McDonald burgers but my child says practices were easy peasy & some done before.

Many parents were caught not able to cancel or terminate classes. So hv to pay last few thousands with no additional value. Thot I’d just share.

You might wanna check for compo writing classes with Writers@Work or Academia. Their classes gets fully sign-up very fast, esp for P6s.

      Hi ChenLaoShi,

Some students started HCL only from P5 unlike some who started since P1. Therefore for PSLE HCL paper, will students be tested on 词语 taught before P5 HCL under some of the components in Paper 2? Appreciate if you could clarify my doubt, TIA☺️🙏🏻

      Hi Berlykiasu,

For HCL paper 2, the component that's relevant to syllabus text is the 1st section 语文应用 (part A Cloze passage, part B Editing). Understanding (and knowing how to write) words & phrases learnt from Pri 5 and 6 HCL syllabus is sufficient in handling these 10 questions.

Where can I get foundation assessment book for P6

I'm afraid there aren't assessments books for Foundation Chinese in the market (similar situation with Chinese B for Sec sch).

To practice for Paper 1 阅读,you can make use of past year school CL papers Paper 2 Booklet B 阅读理解二A组 section. Only attempt the first 3 mcq questions in the section. Start off with 2017 to 2019 Pri 5 papers first, before moving on to Pri 6.

Paper 2 口试 actually constitutes 55% of the weightage so it's important to spend time working on verbal communication. In https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=93860#p1930931, 90% of the lessons were targeted at 口试 training. Focus on expanding range of vocab (nouns, verbs followed by adjectives) based on objects in our daily lives and common places we visit. Work on communicating thoughts in full yet simple sentences.

      加油! 😉
