MathIzzzFun:
bigbang.:

28 men worked from 11 42 to 22 33. there are only 12 machines, so 16 men will be resting while the rest work. the cycle continues and each man worked for the same amount of time. find the duration of work for each man in minutes.

11 42 to 22 33 is 651min.
No. Men at work---> 28-16=12
I do not understand this part:
651/28=23.25
23.25x12=279

Ans: 279
Please help :?: :?: :?:

There are 12 machines, so
total machine time = 12 x 651 min
so, each man will work for --> 12 x 651/ 28

cheers.

:thankyou:

papilion:
Please help me to answer this question. Thanks

Question:
If Ted spent $10, the ratio of Ted’s money to Ben’s money would be 1: 3. If Ben spent $80. the ratio of Ted’s money to Ben’s money would be 1 :2. How much money did Ted have at first?
P=Parts
If Ted -$10,
T : B
1U:3U

if Ben -$80
T : B
1P:2P

Ted original--->1U + 10
Ben Original---> 2P + 80
1u + 10--->1P
2P+ 80---> 3U
3U-80--->2P
2U+20---2P
3U-80--->2U+20
3U--->2U+20+80
3U--->2U+100
3U-2U=1U--->100
Ted at first (1u+10)--->100 + 10=110
Ans: 110
Same here, received my Maths prelim results already, got 57 1/2 (just passed) but I still cried.. :sad:

careless mistakes?

Is the prelim paper exceptionally difficult?

How did you do for MCQ, section B and section C?

My advice is to make sure u get full marks for MCQ and section B.

Section C, make sure those topics u r good at, u get full marks. Any time left, relook at those topics u r weak in n understand the methodology used to solve. U might not get these qns correct, but would still get working marks.

There is a PSLE Maths thread in ksp. If u can, go to this thread to check out how some qns are solved.

Jiayou.

A lot of careless mistakes, my paper 1 is the one which pulled me down since I'm weak at it, Paper 2 not as much since got Calculator.

I am taking foundation maths so I doubt there are threads on FMA questions. Found the paper difficult and almost lost my best friend just because my results. :sad:

Maybe I'm pressuring myself too much already cus I really want to go to YSS/YTSS NA 😢
Almost lost your best friend?
If a child gets t score of 188 to 199, wud b gd to join NA in sec schools like commonwealth...in my opinion... in the west area...

If a child is around 210 can try westwood... hua yi?

The cut-off for hua yi (2013 intake) is 222, so there is a 12 mark difference(222-210=12) and it would be pretty impossible to get in. Juz curious, why are you asking? 😄

Just reading this thread and adding my point of view... :roll:
Wah...huayi cutoff is so high now... didn't keep track... I find it a v gd school though...
OIC... There are other schools too you know...

Nightmares.:
Well, for questions that ask you for a choice (like, \"Is it A, B, or C? Explain your answer.\") My teacher says use CEE:

Choice
Evidence
Explanation

So, you answer like this \"The answer is ___, as it has_______ (E.g, \"as it boiled before <the other option>\"). Thus, it ______________ (E.g, \"Thus, it is a better conductor of heat than <the other option>\").

Then, for questions like \"Tom commented that this was not a fair test. Do you agree with him? Explain why.\" Answer like this:

\"Yes, as in a fair test, only the variable being tested, which in this case is the <independent variable>( E.g. Material being used), should be changed. All other variables, such as <the constant variables> (E.g. the distance between the light source and the material and the thickness of the material) should remain the same.\"

At least I think so.
What school are you from?
