Does anyone here STILL have a problem of the school not informing you of things happening to your boy?
I just called the school and gave them a piece of my mind.

RE: Maris Stella High School
beanmom:
Got concerned when I saw some senior-level students with funky hairstyles, earrings, necklaces, colorful shoelaces on the first day of school.
Talking about the first day of school reminded me - the one thing I do not like about MSHS is the lack of communication. Ds went to school on the 1st day and at around 10am, smsed me to tell me he is leaving school. I called the sch to verify, and the admin staff who answered had no idea and had to check with someone else. Tsk tsk...
Ds is in Sec 3 this year, and no, I haven't seen any of the boys in earrings nor colourful shoelaces. That is rather worrisome should they be allowed in school like that! -

Hi Moomoo. Hello to a fellow Marist parent.
With regards to the timetable, you are right. Day 1-5 will be the first week etc but but but - when my boy first started school, his 1st week was Day 6-10. Not to worry, the teacher should tell the boys which day to start the study week.yityy:
This Sat the school will have a CCA introduction to the Sec 1s. Good to go around and look see what all the groups have to offer and of course, depending on your boy's liking.Has your son decided on any CCAs? We are not sure whether a Sports CCA or uniformed group is better.

IP schools or IB schools? Anyway, that is my point. Studying in Singapore, regardless of IP, IB, mainstream is all very stressful. The children study alot, ace exams etc, are smart, but sadly in terms of courtesy, morals, filial piety, they dont do so well.
But many other IP schools are this way, not just SOTA.
Oops, I think I sidetracked too much. -

Wow, sounds hectic. Studying really shouldnt be about rushing to complete assignments at the expense of mealtimes and resttime. Alas, Singapore is on the go go go - rat race. :siao:

I just ordered and paid for year 1 books for my dd for 2012, total $396.40. She is so happy to get into SOTA and is really looking forward to the first day of school!
Congratulations!! I ordered and paid for the books too. Which arts form is she taking? -
RE: School Of The Arts, Singapore
Thanks Dasalo. It’s so difficult to get info on school matters reg SOTA. I am so thankful you are around to answer my queries. Seems like most people who have children studying there are all very hush hush about stuff like that. Even the facebook page dont have much info.
Thanks once again! Your child is in SOTA 2 or 3rd year already? -
RE: School Of The Arts, Singapore
Thanks Dasalo for the info. Any idea if there are alot of books to lug back? I figured I might need to bring extra pair of hands if there are coz I wont be driving there.
SOTA students must buy Macbook Pro, is that right? Another $1700+? -
RE: School Of The Arts, Singapore
Hi there. What is the rough amount for books and uniform for the first year? Is the amount of books about the same as other sec schools - as in English, Chinese, Math textbooks and wkbooks etc…
Going to report to SOTA on 22/12 and have no clue as the parents talk had no info abt fees except for mthly school fees.
