Anyone’s child going overseas instead? What do u do after accepting the offer? Like how do u even start looking for accommodation? Do you go through an agent?

Anyone went for this before and can share your experience?
I went for the Meet and Greet and thought to share briefly what to expect to benefit future applicants and their parents. So after registration, we were offered nuts and bottles of water (self-service), and were seated in a lecture hall where speakers briefly spoke abt why prospective offered students should choose NUS YLL, and the factors one should consider when thinking about whether one is suited to take the course, and one student shared a glimpse of student life. Then there was a simulation exercise on stage. After which parents were dismissed whilst the kids went on a school tour for about 2 hrs.

I initially thought it was a open house style where you could go any time within the mentioned time frame but it was not. The invitation stated 11.30am to 3.00pm and it did start sometime after 11.30am as they were waiting for more guests to arrive.

Feels like a “restricted entry” open house. I guess it would help prospective students and their parents to know more abt the course and to make a more informed decision to accept the offer.

Attended with my child Mon night zoom session with NUS Chair of Admission committee, Q&A for those reserve list candidates. Total 280, reserve list 70. NUS panel made clear chances is 50:50, during some previous years could be up to 80% success rate for reserves. Next window is 2 days after 24 May, have up to 18 Jun to reply for 1st batch reserved list who is successful. Also see question ask by someone who said he got NTU offer but NUS reserved list. NUS clarified reserved who receive offer will not qualify for scholarship but can only apply bursary based on financial. Aso have questions fr PR candidate who asked abt their chances in reserved list, & what if they receive citizenship what is the procedure to update status & chances? The NUS panel is being honest in their replies during zoom.
Thanks much for sharing. I wasn’t aware there is such a session so your sharing is very helpful.

NUS Medicine has invite offered and waitlist students to attend this Saturday (13-May) event at YLL. Wonder what is that about especially if you are only on waitlist? Is that their usual yearly practice?

Parents whose kids are in NUS med, can you share what’s the expected yearly expenses including tuition fees? My friend was sharing that her child incurred a total of 250K for his medical studies locally, but when I checked NUS tuition fees for AY2023/24, the tuition fees yearly is 30K. Am I missing something? She said there will be a lot more other expenses besides tuition fees like equipment fees? I’m rather concerned on the funds needed. Have also researched on the bursary conditions but I can’t find info on the income conditions.

When NUS/NTU med offer to waitlist student, usually need to reply within few days (like eg 2-3 days time), pls check email regularly. When your child accept the offer, usually they need to fill in the course & uni that they already accepted early. Uni admission office will do arrangement according. Pls read the offer letter and instruction clearly.
What if there is a scholarship offered for the second choice but child is waiting for results of the waitlist? Does this typically mean the child should not accept the scholarship for second choice?

NUS YLL results are out including rejections. For boys, if they are rejected, I assume they can try again next year if they are serving NS now? Can they accept another course now to be matriculated later but still try again next year for medical?
