Is SPERS done only once a year? What happens if we miss the last one? Thanks

RE: School Placement Exercise for returning S'porean children
Simkhoo thanks for the advise! I’ll check with the respective schools re their entry requirements. I do intend to send my little one to preschool just that I’ve to do the academics at home like you said. She loves schooling even tuition and I’ll follow her likes. I believe in childled learning. Just feel a little sad I’ve to give up my reservation for her preschool which I’ve "chooped" since she was 6 months old. Haha.

RE: School Placement Exercise for returning S'porean children
Simkhoo thank you so much for your input. I'll fly over next weekend and ask around re chinese tuition. I don't really wish her to give up chinese as she absolutely loves it and at the age of 2, could read simple chinese books already. She'll mostly be homeschooled since they don't teach them to read till almost 6-7, kinda too late by Sgp standards.
I'll also have to see what schools are avail where we'll be residing for my second child. My gal friend's daughter spent 1+ year in UK and back this Feb but under immersions program and skipping PSLE. Instead she'll take the English and Maths paper only. Is this a better option or regular PSLE is better?? Schools in Aust are rather relaxed and slow in their curriculum.
As for my eldest, spoke to him and he's quite decided to stay put here. He doesn't want to lose out in his school as he said he worked real hard to get into this school. Since P1 I've trained him to be independent and I never ever have to worry he doesn't do homework. The only worry is gaming. Spoke to the hostel matron and she said they're strict about it
and the scholars there are normally more hard working and if he's playful, they'll tell him off!
So now my main concern is my middle kid. Psle or SPERS? Any difference?? Any advantage of one from the other?
My child's dyslexic so compo n compre are his greatest weakness. He's good in maths n science. Dream school is NUSH or ACSI. -
RE: School Placement Exercise for returning S'porean children
My child is now in P5 but we might be posted 1+1 to Aust. By the time we're back he should be year end of Sec 1. Should we fly back for the Sec 1 placement to get our LOA or should we just wait for us to be back to take the SPERS? He's exempted from MT because of learning and physical difficulties.
I'm intending to keep his older bro who's currently in Sec 1 here in Sgp boarding school, any advise otherwise? Still unsure if we want the IP path for him. Also wondering if it's ok to leave him here, just afraid he can't catch up once out of the Sgp system.
My youngest who's turning 4 in Dec will likely return to be placed in P1. Would she be expected to take MT? I'm terrible with my MT and not sure if I can find the required tuition there for her.
So headache with 3 kids of different entry levels to think about :imdrowning: -
RE: CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' Secondary
May I know if anyone knows of the appeal success rate for old girls who didn’t make it for the affiliation COP? She’s off by 7 points. I concerned for my niece but dare not ask her sensitive mom lest she feels offended and defensive.

RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting
Does anyone know what’s the appeal results of old girls who has lower T-score than COP into St Nik?

RE: Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary
IJJ:
It is a hearsay. Last heard, there is now a SNO (special need officer) in Pei Hwa. You may want to find out more and talk to him/her to see what he/she can do for your son.
Yup, according to MOE website, PH suppose to have SNO starting this July. My aunt who's a teacher in another school said SNO can't do much since they have the WHOLE school under their charge and they're not there everyday
plus, other dyslexic parents with primary-going kids say that since my kid is with DAS already, SNO won't bother much about him as he has external support. SNO will only help those who can't get other supports. I wish all this is not true. Will definitely need to speak to the SNO and confirm what he/she can do for my child. Already sent email to request an appointment with SNO, now simply got to wait.

RE: Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary
IJJ:
I recommended her one, but her charges is quite steep as she is a popular enrichment school teacher and she is really very patient and passionate. She knows the syallabus well too. She is now tutoring her P3 dyslexic son as well as another P1 son.
Hi IJJ,
When you say steep ... how much would that be? I've never sent my kids for tuition before so am unsure of 'market rates'. would be interested to know more about her method of teachings. do you have her contact?
Thanks! -
RE: Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary
Jennifer:
Yes Jennifer, I definitely have to speak to all his teachers as well as the principal as he has many other needs on top of being dyslexic. Just worried he'll struggle academically because of the \"high standard\" of SAP schools.blurqueen:
my child is dyslexic. hope I won't regret putting him in PH, P1 next year.

A friend has a child (now P6) who has serious ADHD. She claims no FT except a P5 FT bothered to read the medical assessment and provided special attention.
If you have a medical review, do make several copies n make an appt with the FT n MT teacher early to let them know your child's condition. JMHO
