🕺 Congrats wonderm!!!! This is amazing!!! 有空和你取取经 :imanangel:

Is he from SMTP? 😄

No, not from SMTP. :)
Sorry new to this. How do you calculate number of distinctions?
E.g. if distinctions for all34 H2 content based subjects means obtaining A for 3 H2 subjects. How many distinctions are there? 6 distinctions?

E,g. If distinctions for all H1 subjects, means 3 distinctions? :?

Please help

ngbrdad, do you stay near to clementi mrt station?
I believe it should be around 1 hour each way, factoring walking time (to station, sch, within Buona Vista station) plus waiting time (for the train)

From Clementi station it's only 8 stops using the new circle line.
Factor in waiting time at Buona Vista, should be around 40 min I hope.
From home to the station, can walk or take a bus.
Yeah should be around 1 hr each way.
I need advice from parents of P6 kids...which are the 2 days of the supplementary classes pls ? Need to make arrangements for next year's tuition. Thanks in advance.

Is it not the same as P5? Tues & Thurs?

I also need to confirm supplementary lessons for P5 😄

For P5, it's Tue and Thur. But don't think it's the same for P6.
Need to confirm as I'm planning for my son's Math tuition for next year.
Hi janet_lee88,

P6 supp will still be on Tues and Thurs. However, during Term 3, there will be additional supplementary classes on most weds for all subjects, including mass lectures for orals and compos, remedial classes for some students etc. Hence, where possible, should keep Wed aft free too. For some classes, some teachers may organise Friday additional classes. Expect a busy Term 3 as there will also be prelims and PSLE orals.

Hi, can someone help me with the following S&T pls:

Q: \"You swim well. You'll definitely win the competition tomorrow,\" Mr Tay told me.
Ans: Mr Tay told me that I swam well and would definitely win the competition the next day.

Is the following acceptable:
Ds Ans: Mr Tay told me that I had swum well and would definitely win the competition the next day.

TIA.

Hi - typically for reported speech the tense needs to move one stage backwards (a very ineloquent way of expressing it but that's all I can thhink of).
So present becomes past. Past becomes past perfect.

In this case - The person has not swum yet. The \"You swim well\" a general description about the person's ability to swim. This should translate into \"I swam well.\"

Had swum would be acceptable - if the stem already said \"You swam well\". Perhaps in the context of \" You swam well. The photo finish will definitely show that you are the winner.\"

Here \"had swum\" would be appropriate - as the swimming has already taken place.

Not as succintly expressed as Ridcully but I hope it makes some sense.

Cheers

Hi vidhyalog,

Thanks for your reply. All the best to your son :rahrah:

Our approach is different from Funx3. Her daughter is conscientious and smart and hence she can take it easy :imcool: . It was different for my boys. They did not \"wakeup\" until late P5 or even P6. No talent and hence no DSA. Just sheer hard work for the boys and :rahrah: and :hugs: and :spank: from the parents 😄 .
Except for the :spank: with tons of nagging n lectures, my boy instead if waking up..he is falling asleep!! 😢 How? Learning attitude getting fr bad to worse.. Sloppy jobs done... Can't be bothered attitude.. All these started since he started P3.. :faint:
I think P3 & P5 is a big leap in terms of expectation (AM session) and work load. Some feel it more keenly than others. My boys will come back with \"Er... I think there is no hw\" but when I say \"r u sure?\" then they'll say \"er... but let me call someone to confirm\" or \"I think I lost my XX book\". Perhaps that is their way of escape or not coping.

It got tougher when P5s have to stay back twice a week for supp classes. You could see their dejected looks. Then came bad results. That was when we asked them which sec school they want to see themselves in and we will work with them to achieve that dream. We also told them that parents cannot make that dream school happen for them, unlike buying a toy. They've got to want to work hard. So, the choice was theirs. In our case, until they were willing to take ownership of their studies, it was just an uphill task to get them to work hard.

Take heart, your ds still has time to \"fall down\" and \"wake up\". Don't be afraid to let them falter, they will turn up a stronger young boy/man after that.
