Hi,

For students who are offered a 3rd language option - Are any of your dd/ds taking up? If yes, what language are they interested in? I'm just wondering if students are given the option to drop it if they cannot cope?

my daughter will be doing malay special programme. her t score wasnt that great,(234) so given limited options. my sister-in-law's son who is from VS (Sec 2) is doing German. I heard from him that it is actually pretty fun and you are not penalised for failing. As far as I am concern, it is a good opportunity for kids to pick up a foreign language. at least know how to converse. 😎

But most sec schools would have conversational malay in their curriculum.
oh is it? I was not aware of that. what do u think I should choose then?
Arabic? anyway, I am not too strict about her learning 3rd language either. think of it as more of an enrichment.

So Jieting, tell your son to brace up. PSLE is only 1 small hurdle - road is still long.

I second that because outside world do not look at you PSLE results but it is whether you can work.

Thanks for your advice. My son is better now.

      For T-Score of 230, can I choose:

      1.) TKSS but COP 234,(Impossible?)
      2.) Maris Stella, COP 232,
      3.) Nan Chiau, COP 231,
4.) Temasek Sec school, COP 230,
      5.) ?
      6.) ?

I stay in Pasir Ris so Maris Stella is it too far? And how to go there?

      Anyone can help? :?: :(
Very convenient...Bartley MRT station is right in front of the school!
take the green line to Paya Lebar. then transfer to Circle Line and alight at bartley station. about 40 mins ride.

YEAP πŸ™‚ And proudly so... πŸ™‚ Hehehehe

Nice to hear that! We'll go over to the open house tomorrow.

Any comments on MGS from anyone? We would like to have a good comparision between the 2 schools. Thanks.

Apologies..I meant I was from Cedar. Fast fingers.

MGS is good school too. I have some nice frens from MGS.... but... are you not considering distance? Are you nearer Cedar or MGS (distance-wise) ? These 2 schools are in separate zone.

If nearer Cedar , then choose Cedar. If MGS nearer, then choose MGS.

Distance is key. It is not just about going to school. How about the need to commute for CCA , extra classes etc etc ?
I would suggest cedar. I was from there. besides academic excellence, cedarians are taught to be well mannered and respected individuals. not many schools offer that. πŸ˜„

Thanks boredtodeath. We did consider SJI but have no idea how to get there in the shortest possible time. The fastest, way so far that we know of, takes at least 1hr 15mins travelling time.

I see, maybe you wanna check out this site. http://www.gothere.sg
shows the shortest possible route between two places.

247 to Cedar , is it risky ?

make sure it is the first choice and should be fine.

u can try SJI. personally, don't think u should waste a chance at a good school with a good score.

      Hi PGID,

Is Damai sec chinese name 德明中学?? if correct, should choose this... As my relatives stay Tampines and comments it not bad, or may b u can get more info from others....
Damai isnt really a good school. academics aside, the students in the school are quite rowdy. disclipline is rather slack too. my friend's son was from there. he transferred to Xinmin a year later.
