It is an informal email.boringmum:
Is SW formal or informal? I heard it is written to a cousin. Is it correct?
If my child had written formal instead of informal, will she get penalized?
The difference is in the tone. You would write in a friendlier manner to your cousin than to an event organiser, for example.
Some teachers split hairs over the signing off... (Yours sincerely/faithfully, regards...etc)
That is one of the differences between the 2 kinds.
Also, for a formal letter, granted that the recipient does not know who you are, you should mention it somewhere. If your child hasn't written that, then it might still sound like an informal letter? Lol
There are still content marks based on the qns. So, do not worry too much about it.
It takes up 15 outta the total 55 marks of paper 1 -

RE: What I hate about the current Singapore
(1) Overpopulated. Lack of amenities to support the increased population aka immigration. (2) Sinkaporeans hv become 2nd class citizens. Sinkies r left to struggle, while garmen is generously giving scholarships, blah, blah, blah to foreigners. It is not Singaporeans first, the only country that does not put her citizen first.
(3) i feel like a foreigner in my own country.
(4) Crazy education system.
(5) Elitism.
More good years? :?

Lately, can't help must think that the roles have reversed. Enrichment and tuition centers are here to teach our children and the schools' role is to enrich - with the countless NE, CCAs, learning journeys, competitions and other what-have-you type programs.
The irony of it all... :skeptical: :roll:cherryc:
Totally agree. I'm feeling the heat now although DS is only P1 tis year.Totally agree! Just like textbooks are only guidebooks but the guidebooks/assessment books we buy from popular bookshops or notes from tuition centres or compiled by parents are the actual textbooks . And tutors become teachers and teachers are more to guide the kids only??? Interesting, isn't it?
The heat is on... -

RE: All About Full-Time Maids
Andaiz:
Congratulations on ur new additions! Is it true that once after their loans have been paid up, the maids start acting up?
This morning, my maid told my mum (coz I work) that she needs to go home to look after her kids. Her sister (who is the main caregiver) had a fall-out with her mum and is now living in the \"city\" instead of the province. Her mum is not old but sickly, and doesn't bother about her kids so the kids are now very skinny.
Maid's husband is a good-for-nothing. Only gave money in Dec when he had seasonal job. So far, have been living in the \"city\", and have been sighted with various women entering Hotel-81-type places....
She wants to go home to take care of her kids. We have got exciting family additions in Q3, 2012 so its stinky timing
. Should I allow her to go back for good? I know she needs the money- not sure if she's aware of the implication of returning home...
I dun think maids wanna go back becos their loans r paid up. It is more likely that ur maid knows there will be additions n she doesn't want the added responsibilty.
I had a transfer maid after my ex-maid left. The new maid did not know that I was preg when I saw her n agent also didn't tell her. It was only when she was with me for a few days that she realised that I was preggy. Then, she started to act up.
It was after when i spoke wif the agent that the agent told me that the maid had already called him n told him that she didn't know that i was preggy. Agent then told me that the maid is probably behaving badly in the hope that i wld change her. I changed her.
My advise to u is to sound her out. If u think she is a good worker, then by all means try to persuade her. If not, I wld suggest u change b4 the arrival of ur additions, cos there will be too much / too overwhelming 4 the new maid. It is also better 4 u to train n let the maid get orientated with ur household first. And also if u change b4 next Jan, u do not hv to offer them off day in the contract cos the new law will only kick in in Jan next year.
