I think it is not a matter about Christians or non Christians. But rather, the school/ principal has (if I may loosely use this word) "withheld" information on opting out from the devotion before school starts during the parents’ orientation.


I do not think this is what all of us who has integrity will do so. It is human affinity with God .

There are many avenues for the school to try to preach such as the recess prayers and a preacher and what’s not. You don’t have to "withhold" information.

So food for thoughts. With the withholding of information, is this what we are trying to teach the kids to speak the truth and hide the facts? Is this what the school is trying to enforce?

I am taking leave tomorrow to apply. So going there to access the situation. From my understanding, Pei Hwa don't divulge the figures like how many within 1km, within 1 - 2km or more than 2km SC or PR. Unless maybe tomorrow a lot of parents are pressing. But ok, I will try my luck with the phone.. Thanks!

On MOE website : Pei Hwa 39 applications for 31 places
Keming 91 applications for 96 places.
Despite this, you can still apply at Pei Hwa, I suggest you do it online. The school cannot refuse applications even if they are oversubscribed. But if all 39 applications are SC within 1 km, you may need to ballot. If you want to call the school to ask how many applications are SC within 1km to be sure. And consider if the ballot risk is worthwhile. All the best.

But seem like Pei Hwa dropped from top 20 to top 100. All the neighbourhood school are catching up with 100% pass as well

Plus the recent cooling measures with SC needing to stay in their current place for 30 months (2.5 years), P2C applicants will drop further. Hope that this is a good each of info.

For more detailed on the birthrate for that particular year, you can google it with "population in brief 20xx". Please note that if your child is born 2010, you can google it with "population in brief 2011" because stats are only out 3 or 4 months after the last calendar year.

For e.g. For 2010 citizen birth it is 30,131 and about 5k is residents birth (I assume PR). The rest are non citizens. But the only drawback is you don’t know the breakdown in gender in that report.

It has been a long time since i last came into this forum… and finally… i enrolled my son to a montessori based school after brain washing my hb!!! EYM… and realise that there a ppl talking about this school…


I went for the school observation. I would say that the kids there are very well behave. They do things on their own and they are quite independent. Their theme for this term is Marine Life and by now they have brought them to the Marine life park…

Further to that, during observation, I notice the kids asked intelligent questions…

After half hr of observation plus talking with the principal, finally decided enroll him there…

p.s. the principal is a bit weird though… but it doesnt bother me… hahaa…

The next qn is… after putting him in a fully montessori based school, should i bring him out for a more academic based school in K1 or K2 as a transition period to Pri 1.

Still worrying about him not able to catch up in Pri 1 and lose interest in learning vis-a-vis stressing him too much… stress

Can I check if they are shifting to a temp holding in 2015, what will be their phase 2C based on? The old location or the temp location?

Any one has any comments on The Learning Ladder (same teaching style as Schoolhouse by the Bay) at Bt Timah?
